I don't care if Bute was -1, let alone #1. If he hasn't put in his share of work (i.e solid resume), he doesn't deserve to face Ward.

Anthony Dirrel doesn't deserve to face him either. It's not just Bute.

    Let me ask you something.

Who's Bute's best win on his record against?

So if your going to get tagged either way, why not just go 100% offensive?

Froch beat Direll, who was twice as fast as Ward with the JAB! Persistence beats resistence and eventually shots wouldve landed. The whole thing makes me sick.

Froch couldn't use his jab to set anything up, because he was constantly getting countered with Ward's jab, which was much more sharp, quicker and accurate than his own jab.

He just got outjabbed bud, it's not that he didn't attempt to use it.

He was just too conscious of trying to not be reckless and 'make mistakes', got caught up in trying to box with Ward, which was the mistake, 'cause, all the time Froch was thinking and trying to box, Ward was slipping the jab and landing his own (plus power shots) - Froch didn't realize what he needed to do -- and could do, ie. take shots to put pressure on Ward -- until way too late...you can't break Ward down in 3-4 rounds.

So who does deserve to fight Ward? I think you're kind of deluded about Andre's status, and I say that as a Ward fan since long before the Super Six was a twinkle in Ken Hershman's eye.

I don't at all mind seeing Bute go through the ringer a bit more before he gets a crack, nobody hates Bute more than me, ; but it's silly to say he wouldn't "deserve" the fight now if he got it.

The biggest stars in boxing all have their "money fight" at their division...Khan and Bradley, Juanma and Gamboa (these two have suffered setbacks obviously) May/Pac, Martinez/Chavez, etc.

Ward has Bute. There is little doubt that both are the best 168 pounders in the world. Ward is riding high right now after winning the super six, Bute's stock is not on the same level. The fight right now is not worth nearly as much as it can be in time. Big boxing fights are like investments. Investments require time and risks to pay off. Almost every big fight never gets done when it makes "boxing sense"

To think a professional athlete is scared of another is absurd.

Agreed in general, but sometimes waiting too long doesn't pay off and a great fight doesn't happen at all or doesn't happen until it's too late to matter. Bowe-Lewis and Jones-Hopkins II spring to mind. Khan-Bradley has already lost its shine, following Khan's loss to Peterson. And Floyd-Pac is not going to be as big a fight following Pac's struggle against Marquez as it would have been a year ago, and Floyd's jail sentence might have just stymied it now for good and all.

Suppose Ward or Bute signs with HBO while the other remains with Showtime - it's notoriously difficult to make a fight between fighters in that situation. All sorts of things can go wrong if you sit on a great fight too long. I have no problem with Bute having to beat Froch first, but assuming Bute wins that in style, it would be ridiculous of Ward didn't fight Bute in late 2012.

Who's to say Bute is the best guy, wat if Froch fights Bute and KO's him? Or what if Kessler beats Bute, does that make him the best fighter?
