this might be debatable with current fighters. but historically speaking you're just completely and utterly wrong.

Zsolt Erdei is the linear champion (check the lineage - Roy Jones was never proper champ cos he never fought Michalchewski) at light heavy. All four major belt holders are European as well.Calzaghe is the man at Super Middle, middleweight - fair enough, its one of two yanks for that title. Light middle? Ricardo Mayorga. OK maybe hes not European but he's not American. Welter? Zab Judah fair enough. Light welter? Ricky Hatton, a fighter so good it makes Americans sick to their stomachs. He could beat God in the ring and you'd still all moan that he's a dirty fighter and not taking hard fights - Roberto Duran was a dirty fighter and I dont hear you moaning about him! Lightweight is Castillo, well Mexicans are mostly all Spanish aint they ha ha. He's definitely not American though. Super feather? Barrera. Feather? Mexican, but Scott Harrison is European and is coming up. It goes on and on. The only reason Americans appear dominant is because they have promoters that can get them into positions to fight for titles. Face it, Americans are in third after Mexicans and Europeans.
if holding 7 belts doesnt make you champ what the f**k does ?
imnot gonna even bother with the rest. and im english

He's talking about the present state of boxing today.

So far, as far as skill goes, no one can quite beat Floyd Mayweather. Hatton will have to turn it into an ugly fight to win it and that is what he does best. Make a boxing match into an all out fight. But boxing is what Floyd does best, sweet science over sheer brute force. Completely different styles.

Floyd is the current Sugar Ray Leonard. Today, Ameica has no Thomas Hearns, no Marvin Hagler, no Mancini, no Aaron Pryor, no McClellan, no Ali/Holmes/Norton/Foreman.....

We do have Winky, Toney, Tarver, Lacy, Mayweather, Mosely (he WAS good but now still better than average), Raheem (I always knew he had it in him), Judah...

I don't get how Hatton fans have the audacity to question any of Mayweather's competition. From 2001-2003 Mayweather fought, IN A ROW:
                Corrales
                Hernandez
                Chavez
                and Castillo x 2

I don't care that it "has been years" (read: 2) since he "fought someone decent." It is more legitimate fights in a row then Hatton will have fought in his entire career before he retires.

haha, I opened up the Calzaghe/Lacy fight thread a few seconds ago to the last page and saw no boxing talk, instead nationalist talk. Only on boxingscene...

I know, I find it upsetting as an English guy. When I go over to the States for a holiday I have a great time and get made to feel really welcome. But I come on here and it's "Brit" this and "Brit" that.

Not that I'm saying it doesn't happen the other way round either, as with this thread...
