European fighters are better than American fighters

Let's be honest now - European fighters are better than Americans, they just dont get the chance to prove it. Like it or not, the two Klitschkos are the best heavyweights in the world (dont make me laugh about retirement, Vitali will be back before the end of next year). Zsolt Erdei is the linear champion (check the lineage - Roy Jones was never proper champ cos he never fought Michalchewski) at light heavy. All four major belt holders are European as well.Calzaghe is the man at Super Middle, middleweight - fair enough, its one of two yanks for that title. Light middle? Ricardo Mayorga. OK maybe hes not European but he's not American. Welter? Zab Judah fair enough. Light welter? Ricky Hatton, a fighter so good it makes Americans sick to their stomachs. He could beat God in the ring and you'd still all moan that he's a dirty fighter and not taking hard fights - Roberto Duran was a dirty fighter and I dont hear you moaning about him! Lightweight is Castillo, well Mexicans are mostly all Spanish aint they ha ha. He's definitely not American though. Super feather? Barrera. Feather? Mexican, but Scott Harrison is European and is coming up. It goes on and on. The only reason Americans appear dominant is because they have promoters that can get them into positions to fight for titles. Face it, Americans are in third after Mexicans and Europeans.

United States is the Mecca of professionl boxing. Fighters from Europe are generally sheltered, and do not take the necessary risks in order to become name fighters.

Ricky Hatton fought his first five fights here, and never returned....that says alot.

He was given opportunity after opportunity to come here and fight. In fact.....there are few European fighters outside Wladimir Klitschko who even compare to fighters from here.

Hows about Felix Sturm who went over there and nearly beat De La Hoya? And you wanna talk about sheltered?! what about Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins, three fighters always mentioned at the top of anyone's p4p list. Who the hell have they ever fought? Mayweather has fought no one since he 'beat' Castillo. Roy Jones' list of victims looks like a who's who of policemen and journeymen. And Hopkins hasnt beaten anyone that is a genunine middleweight with skills and turned down the opportunity to fight Calzaghe for $6million. Face it, Americans can't fight any better than Europeans. They just have more opportunity and then refuse hard fights once they've got their belts. There's nothing like the Mexican will for hard fights that we see in Barrera and Morales et al.

Never would have agreed with you until this year. You do have a good position to say that.

But look at it this way, to quote the movie Top Gun, "Cougar turned in his wings, Maverick, you're going to Top Gun".

Americans used to dominate almost every level of boxing. But since there are less Americans boxing nowadays, the void of talent has been picked up by Hispanics, Europeans and Asians.

sure the klits are the best HWs... in particular wald with THREE KO LOSSES and Vitali definitely proved it defending his WBC title he won by fighting a golf player (after the legit holder, who STOPPED him) by fighting a whale and a bum and then retiring

zsolt erdei is the best LHW and so was DM before him... Jones should have gone to germany and get robbed (or warned for punching his opponent...) but DM should have never left his home

calzaghe is the man who fought nobodies and ducked his own mother, and you mention hopkins and mayweather as ducking people

US is the country I lived in I like the least, but you make me change my mind about going home

This kid just wantsa to start some **** with the us peeps on this site. Who in europe is even close to the skill level (in history) to sugar ray leonard, sugar ray robinson, Ali, Fariser, Foreman, De la Hoya, sugar shane mosely, roy jones, hopkins, etc and the list goes friggen on. You take your best euros against our best in history and we dominate plane and simple. Sorry but true. You can try and compare but it just won't happen. Don't get me wrong their have been some great fighters from everywhere in europe but not in comparison with our great fighters.

I'd say your missing out on the Mexican and South American fighters, they are truly great. The Asian fighters are also coming up right now.
