wow you guys are saying prime calzaghe is a toss up fight? So many of you are already considering Ward an ATG that's pretty much unbeatable in this era?

Ward already has a better resume than prime Calzaghe. And that is not debatable.

Ward has a much better jab than Hopkins and as you pointed out.. more athletic. Ward tries to come forward more and force himself more on his opponents though which would be to Calzaghe's advantage, he was never man handled at 168 lbs.

There were times when Bika roughed him up a little bit.

Hopkins got robbed by calzaghe. Andre Ward is the same style fighter but younger more athletic and faster. Ward would bully the dude.

Calzaghe was a really good fighter but no where near an ATG. Stop it with the wishful thinking please.

Oh and to answer the question, Ward beats him. Ward is a better boxer all around and Ward although still young already has a better resume than Calzaghe does at 168. He beat more top level guys in his weight class than Calzaghe did throughout his career and unlike Calzaghe he is fighting these guys when it matters.

If Ward fights and beats Bute than consider Calzaghe's accomplishments forgotten, just watch!

Ward is not an ATG either but he is young still and he has a chance to become one if he disposes of Bute and moves to 175 and beats the top fighters at that weight.

Ward is very skilled and very very clever too. Ive always been impressed with Ward, he seems like a bigger but not as polished version of Floyd.

It depends on how many slots are on your ATG list. I picked Zags only because I think he could make Ward pay for the reaching in to clinch which is a big part of Andre's game late in fights. And the fact that Joe would make him come across the water. But honestly Im not sure who wins. Though Joe is not well liked but he is very skilled and quick enough to counter Ward. I would love to see that fight. As for coming back now............he gets drilled.
