Am I the only non-mexican who would pick margarito

Over cotto in a 3rd fight??? Not taking anything away from cotto. He played it brilliantly targeting the bad eye. But that aside that fight was playing out exactly the same as the 1st fight. Only difference being margarito cut 1st. But cotto was getting tired and being broken down and his face just as bad and swollen at the same point in the 1st fight.

So I dont buy the margarito has been exposed plasterless theory. My opinion is that he was dealing just as much hurt and punishment as in the 1st fight but the bad eye being targeted slowed him down a bit. And for that reason id takd marg over cotto in a 3rd fight.

Margarito has really went down hill ever since he did that joke on Roach. I think it could be karma. Jokes like that are not funny, I don't know why he even did it too.

It was nothing like the first fight I can't imagine why people say that.

Cotto absorbed a fraction of the damage through the first 6 rounds in this fight as opposed to the first fight. What makes you think Cotto was going to fall apart in the next 3 rounds when Margarito didn't put in near the amount of work early as he did in the 1st fight?

Hell, the 9th was actually a very good round for Cotto.

Margarito just took too much damage from Mosley/Pac. You can see how much slower he is. His reactions, timing, everything. Too much wear and tear now.

I didnt say anything about cotto falling apart in the rematch. I said that obviously marg's eye cutting early slowed him down. But contrary to popular belief I think margarito's offense had the same effect as in the 1st fight. So thats why I would pick margarito over cotto if theres a 3rd fight.

How could you say that Margarito's offense had the same effect? You realize he hardly had Cotto on the ropes where he gets leverage on his shots right? That almost never happened.

Just because he was coming forward and Cotto seemed to be tiring a bit does not mean that the fight was the same, or even similar.

Cotto never had his back on the ropes because that was the gameplan, the condition of Tony's eye would not have made a difference in that regard. He's never been great at cutting a ring, in the 1st fight Cotto retreated to the ropes because he was ill prepared and thought he could fight off the ropes.

Margarito landed about a quarter of the significant punches he landed in the 1st fight in this one. His offense did not have the same effect, that really can't be argued. His best shot was Cotto's constant moving tiring him out to where Margarito could pound him against the ropes but it was pretty clear that wasn't going to happen.

And that eye will swell like that in every fight moving forward.

I don't see it, Cotto got his nose broken in the first fight, and didn't get hit no where near as much in the rematch. Cotto moved well here, stood off the ropes and clinched when he needed to. Margarito ain't no machine, how many beatings does he need to take before we can all accept that he's no longer elite? He shouldn't even be fighting.
