I thought he kept telling Khan to throw down the middle, and to throw uppercuts which he did with some success.
But, I agree that Roach isn't looking good this year. I'm beginning to wonder if the Parkinson's is really affecting him now. There seems to be no plan B and no adjustment during the fight with his gameplans.
I think Brother ****m and Robert Garcia give some of the best advice in the ring. Roach isn't even close to being on their level.
Garcia is actually one of the most overrated trainers in the last 10 years. Roach is better than him. And Nazeem has those three big wins to fall back on with Hopkins-Pavlik/Pascal and Mosley vs Margarito. Mosley vs Mayweather/Pacquiao, was more of Mosley being too old and fighting the younger better fighters. Hopkins vs Dawson was not Richardson's fault that Hopkins overreacted to a minor injury[minor according to B-Hop fans since Hopkins will be sparring in January]. But at the end of the day is all about the fighters. You can give a journeyman a great trainer, he's not gonna become a worldbeater all of a sudden. That's why I say trainers get too much credit.

And that was actually great advice, but it's not Roach's fault that Khan instead chose to runaway and shake his head in the inside, Roach's advice was not "Shake your head when ever he catches you clean, judges love that" or "Shove or push him really hard if he gets too close". When I heard Roach give him that advice to throw down the middle and throw uppercuts, I thought to myself "Damn, that is some pretty good advice, and makes sense since Peterson is throwing wide shots to the body". Did Khan execute this advice? No he didn't, so it's not Roach's fault. He gave the correct advice, Khan didn't follow through with it.

Or maybe Khan didn't feel confident of carrying out that advice.
