Comments Thread For: Cotto's Trainer Feels Odlanier Solis Will Become Champ

Trainer Pedro Diaz is confident in heavyweight Odlanier Solis' ability to become a force in the heavyweight division. Diaz, who gained a lot of recognition for his recent work with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, doesn't like the negative comments being pushed against Solis (17-1, 12KOs) for the March loss to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. The Cuban heavyweight suffered a bad knee injury that required multiple operations.

Solis was beating Klitschko in the short time that fight lasted and was giving him looks he hadn't seen before.

I hope he can come back from the knee injury.

I cant take Solis seriously until he loses weight. till then he wont be champ of anything but a burger eating competition.

Oreola and Solis should compete to see who can lose the most weight.

IMHO Solis needs to take it more seriously in training.

His skills might be good, but he's too fat. He needs head movement or he will me sniped by a big heavyweight.

No comments regarding the Klitschko fight.

            Wish him the best.

Found a keeper from the former biggest ego in the world:

"Now that's why you shouldn't have excess body fat. A lean 30 year-old, healthy athlete shouldn't have joints or ligament popping for no reason," said Haye. "Solis knew how to beat Vit, but years of obesity stopped him being able to execute. He will unfortunately go down as yet another fat bum."

Haye, who lost to Solis 10 years ago in the amateur ranks, fought a man who was 46lbs lighter that night. Solis weighed in at 248.5 lbs against Klitschko.

"He beat me 10 years ago when he weighed 46lbs less. That's my point. He used to be ripped. Why become obese before a huge fight?"

              - David Haye

Giving him looks he hadn't seen since Byrd..

Hell, Vitaly didn't even hit him when he hurt his knee.

Solis shouldn't have even been in a title shot. The only contender he faced was his dq win over Austin. He might someday be something but not if he's managed like he was before.

You might have a point there.
