If this fight gets made, might as well be at 154. People wouldn't biitch about a catch weight, Pac could win a real JMW belt and in all honesty, that extra 4 pounds won't do ***** for Cotto. The only thing that would help Cotto in this fight is a change of game plan. He'll have to box all night and not get dragged into a war. Even then his chances are slim imo.
A Question For Cotto Fans

Cotto has a chance against Manny with a trainer, I stand by that no BS. Cotto isn't great is what some clown on here said... Ok ass, the guy has 1 LEGIT loss and he gave Manny a tough fight for four rounds, with no trainer. Just watch him from the Marg fight to the Manny fight, he digressed terribly without a trainer, especially one you see his fights after Manny. He is a better fighter now than when he fought Manny, period.
That being said, catchweights and anyone b*tching about them are idiots. Cotto had to fight at 145, but you know what he agreed to it so tough **** if you lose you agreed to it. If the two guys agree on a weight then its fair IDC how much one guy was "drained" you picked the fight.
As far as the rematch, hell yes I would watch it as it would be maybe less entertaining than the first fight was. But it will be fun to watch and last the distance probably. Also, more weight would definitely help Cotto and given how Marquez last fought Manny I think Cotto could win. I would still favor Manny because he won the last fight, but I think Cotto can do everything Marquez did but with more power. They would sell Cotto as being over his Marg loss and REALLY REALLY sell the fact that he didn't have a corner and this would do just as many buys and I would be cheering my ass off for Cotto to beat Manny again.Comment

it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks, Cotto obviously implied it because he's comfortable there.Ok you all remember that Cotto wanted to bring Margarito down to 150 right? You guys were ok with it(well most). Now since it looks we might have a rematch between Cotto and Pacquiao, it looks most likely that Pac will ask for a catch weight.
Are you ok with that if they rematch at 150?
No flame, just curiosity.Comment

Oh, there'll be interest, alright. I can already feel being suckered in.
It's not out of the realm of possibility for Cotto to beat Manny. He has a chance.
I actually believe the 145 hindered him a little, then you've got Joe Santiago working the corner (terrific trainer, hell of a resume, by the way), and Cotto falling into the trap of trying to exchange with Manny and muscle him around.
Let me state these facts, not opinions, FACTS:
Cotto won the first round by countering Pacquiao will coming in and using the jab consistently.
Cotto was knocked down in the third round, but fought well enough for it to to be scored 10-9 on TWO of the judge's scorecards.
You could also argue that he was winning/even with Pacquiao in the fourth before that brutal uppercut knocked him senseless.
Cotto also won round 10 on TWO of the judges' scorecards. Keep in mind that this was ROUND 10...which by now Cotto was in FULL RETREAT.
Pacquiao gets frustrated easily. You have to stink out the joint. He drops his hands in frustration. Pacquiao still should be given the benefit of the doubt. He looked mortal against Márquez but Márquez just knows how to fight him because of:
a-) Styles
b-) Márquez was fighting Pacquiao a third time
Cotto can beat Pacquiao if he STICKS TO BOXING and not trying to brawl with Pacquiao. If he does that, he's getting stopped in the 11th or 10th. It'll be late only because of Cotto's backpedaling. You heard it here first. I think the chances of winning are at around Cotto (27-30%) and Pacquiao (73-78%) if the fight gets between 150-154, anything below that decreases Cotto's chances. If it's under 150, Pacquiao hammers Cotto into submission.Comment

Im totally against catchweights! But if 150 is what it takes to get the fight made then meh i suppose i could live with that, Miguel would still perform well at the weight i believe even though i think the 150 ask to Marg was just a platform to work from....Ok you all remember that Cotto wanted to bring Margarito down to 150 right? I don't want to see the rematch at all. I don't care if it's at 147, 150, or 154 it's a crappy fight. Cotto is not on Pac level at all.Comment
