If Sergio is not getting a money fight with Floyd, Pac (lol) or Cotto, then he should be fighting Pirog.
And he probably will. It's not as if it helps Sergio to wait it out. In fact, it hurts him, since he's older and Pirog will only get better. Martinez wants a big money fight and rightfully so. If he can't get one for the fall of next year, and Pirog's name continues to grow, it'll get made.

Theres no real reason or excuse to fight the likes of Barker and Macklin

There doesn't have to be. Pirog is probably better than both (although seriously, who has he beat again?) and probably pays as much. I think I'm repeating myself but Martinez wants a big money fight and rightfully so. If he can't get one for the fall of next year, and Pirog's name continues to grow, it'll get made.

yeah i think it will too. there's not really another top middleweight making a name for himself. proksa and golovkin are steady fighting in europe, i don't see them blowing up like crazy next year over here in the states, wish they would though. pirog was suppose to fight geale on showtime but i don't know if it ever got picked up.
and ?? at this article. when did cotto or his team ever say they're willing to fight him?

there really isn't. barker was a waste of time and macklin is an attempt by dibella to get his name more out there. they think if they get lee and macklin on a card together for st. patrick's day in nyc, it'll attract the irish people to come watch it. thing is though they'll be rooting against martinez. dibella should've had him do his fights somewhere like california, where it seems like more people would come out to watch a good/decent fight on any saturday night.

Barker's resume and record looks better than Pirog's, he is willing to fight in America. Macklin just beat Sturm, another MW champ, and got robbed fighting in dude's backyard. Pirog wants Martinez to fight in his backyard too while Macklin is willing to fight in the US.

Do you even believe any of this garbage? I doubt it, you seem like a good poster otherwise.

Macklin is a good fighter and so is Barker. I haven't even seen Pirog on television since that Jacobs win. I saw one fight where he struggled against a no namer and that doesn't leave me with the impression that he is "the guy" to beat at MW.....plus, the title he has is pretty meaningless.

I may throw in a lot of sarcasm in my posts (just for kicks) but I do think that Macklin and Barker are good opposition. I want to see Pirog face Barker and see how he fares.

Sure both of them are good, but both struggled regularly at the EBU level. And beyond that, there's only the Sturm robbery, but we know that flatters to deceive. And if you think that Pirog fight was ugly, check out some of their fights. Pirog smoked EBU level guys as a green (if not so young) prospect.

But I'm mainly I'm calling you out on the "he'll only fight in Russia" spin. Pirog has no mandate at Sergio, much less to drag him to Russia. So that's a joke, though the money is impressive, didn't think he had that kind of backing. That aside, you know he'll fight any of the champs/contenders on HBO or SHO in America. The only one that's shown interest is Geale (and Lara I guess, but he apparenly gets no love from GB), but so far no takers. I wonder if that is a sign of things to come at SHO... Because it would be a tv friendly fight, if not so promotable.

Showtime puts these guys that are fringe contenders at best on the air....I don't understand why they won't air some Pirog bouts in hopes of a mega MW fight down the line. HBO nor Showtime seem too interested in getting him exposure (HBO I can understand since he beat Jacobs) but you'd think Showtime would scoop hm up .

He should also want to gain that type of exposure as well and tell his promoters that's what he wants. Once you work your way UP to HBO or whatever......you don't go back to small time, that just makes no sense.
