Margarito without hand wraps. Would he have a winning record?

This guy is a horrible fighter. No talent, no ability whatsoever. Can't even throw punches properly. No punching power. Lot of heart and incredible chin though.

Would he have even made it at all in boxing without plaster in his gloves? I honestly don't see many names on his resume he could have competed with without them.

I've always said the same thing, this guy is the most overrated fighter of the last 20 years, take out the **** he were putting in his glove and he would not have win one significant fight

I think Cotto proved last night whether he used the plaster or not and the difference in its effect. Some will continue to ignore the situation but meh.

Speaking strictly from a personal standpoint, it's so gratifying to see what Margarito fights like without loaded wraps. I've said for 5 years this guy can't fight and would never beat a top level guy. When he beat Cotto in 2008, I had to eat my words. I was wrong about him. But now that it's obvious he's been cheating his whole career, it just feels good to know I was right all along. This guy doesn't deserve to share a ring with a Floyd, Pacquiao, Mosley or even Cotto without his wraps. He sucks.

What's even more awesome is that Paul Williams ate plaster from this guy for 12 rounds and didn't even go down. That's ****ing awesome, though honestly it's probably screwed Willams' career up the way it did Cotto's for a bit.

Nah. What screwed Williams career up is his unwillingness to fight tall and letting shorter guys catch him with bombs.

You don't think eating plaster changes a guy's punch resistance at all? I think a chin can only take so much before it's cracked, and at that point you can't put it back together.

But yeah, Williams never learned to fight properly given his traits.

Margarito winning without loaded hand wraps is about as possible as Usain Bolt winning the 200m without legs.

You can break a lot of guys by just sticking around taking the best they have to offer then coming back at them. Not top level guys but guys people think a lot of who haven't really been tested in such a way.

I always thought he started cheating after the Williams fight, because that made sense. Before hand he was this feared guy beat some alright guys but no one special, but then fought a guy willing to stand up to him that didn't break down mentally, so he realized he needed something extra to really make it past where he was and that whole feared man shit was a facade.

That is my take on it anyways because I never saw Margarito as anything that special in terms of his boxing skills.
