yo, i want margarito and floyd to fight. that way, when margarito wins, and then beats judah for all the belts at '47 he has to fight the #1 contender ... Kermit "the killer" Cintron! and you know Cintron's gonna splatter his ass all across the canvas in that rematch!

pepe: Would you like to fight Margarito
WINKY_WRIGHT: Fight Margarito for what?
WINKY_WRIGHT: I'd fight Daniel Santos before I fought that dude. What am I going to gain by fighting someone who lost to Santos? That's like fighting Ouma after he lost, for what?
From Winky himself. Worth noting.Comment

Margarito had to go up to 154 to fight Santos because he couldnt find an opponent at 147, he lost a controversial decision to a man weighing 175 pounds. winky is right not to fight him but Margarito is 147 pound champ and that is what Mayweather wants. Mayweather should take the easy opponent in Margarito and get the welterweight belt that he wants.Comment

Now...back to the issue on hand.
It has been reported that Mayweather was offered 85% of the purse against Margarito. Mayweather isn't afraid or ducking Margarito. Who knows but MAYBE, JUST MAYBE he's waiting for Margarito to become a bigger name.
That OR he has bigger fish's to fry in 140 and 147. He still has unfinished business that he has to attend to at 140, and of course he wants to fight his former friend in Zab Judah.
Sorry to dissapoint you, but your boy Margarito isn't a big star, in fact, he's not even a star. No one knows about him, its a shame, but Floyd has stated that he wants big fights, and even Sharmba is a bigger name then Margarito. Plus the jury is still out on Floyd at 147. He has no fights there while Margarito has fought at 154 and 147. Floyd's going into unchartered territories if he decides to fight Margarito and he doesn't want to take the risk.Comment

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Is that Antonio Margarito that got whooped by Daniel Santos?
FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: What does fighting him prove?
looks similar to the Winky comment, no? (although this was said before Winky)Comment

In any case, Mayweather would whoop Margarito but don't need him.Last edited by rsl; 11-10-2005, 11:19 PM.Comment
