the way I look at it mayweathers remembers how he had so many problems with castillo and margarito has the same style but just bigger so he's thinking about it real good, I'm not saying margarito will beat him but he knows its going to be a real rough fight.Comment

Margarito has the stamina, power, chin, and punch rate to beat ANY 147 pounder right now. Hell, he would've beat Santos in their second match had the fight not been stopped, and Santos came in at 170 pounds!
If Margarito is a nobody, why not fight him for the WBO title and $3 M more? Because he's the most dangerous fighter right now, that's why. Floyd knows this.
Floyd isn't ducking your boy Margarito. He's looking at the bigger picture whereas he could fight a megafight with DLH, have his biggest payday yet, or he could fight Judah for another big payday because Judah is a fairly big star, or fight Hatton whereas it would be "clash of the titans" two undefeated superstars going at it.
Why would Floyd waste his time with Margarito? You think they would be able to come up with 7 million when there last fight was on ESPN.Comment

He wants to be champ at 147 right? According to some people Magarito is a nobody and he sucks. Well he has a title that Floyd would get very easily then. But he doesnt want to fight him even after Margarito called him out and offered 85% of the purse. Margarito is named the most ducked fighter right now, what would be so wrong in beating the guy everyone is scared of. i think its a win- win situation for Floyd.
im not saying MargArito will beat Floyd but there no excuse as to why he doesnt deserve a shot at being a big name. He has been a solid welter weight champ for 3 years already.

A win-win situation? Do you even know what that means?
If Floyd beats Margarito, he beat an unknown who hasn't accomplished ANYTHING yet. It's fair to say he's being ducked but he hasn't even beat a good fighter yet, and he's not on Floyd's level.
If Floyd loses to Margarito, he lost to an unknown and he won't be able to pursue bigger money fights with DLH at 147 or Judah.
Why don't you look at the bigger picture without your mexican bias?Comment

as far as your insightful "You think they would be able to come up with 7 million" comment ... "they" are Bob Arum, yeah .. ese tipo - the same arum that put up 12 million for this saturdays fight thats not gonna happen and LOST BIGTIME. espn is a forum for fights, not perceived money.Last edited by baya; 11-10-2005, 03:44 PM.Comment

Point out were it is remotley bias.Floyd's level hasnt been measured at 147 now has it.Its a win win situation for Floyd, why?85% of the purse, easy fighter, and a welterweight title. What could go wrong? If Margarito hasnt got a chance in hell then why not take candy from a baby?Oh wait the real boxing fans will take Floyds win to a 3 year reining champ like he fought a nobody.Last edited by {BrownBomber}; 11-10-2005, 03:36 PM.Comment

There it is for all of those who were saying that the 85% that was offered to Mayweather from the purse was probably less than when he fights no names... you can see its considerably more. Mayweather simply dont want it.
This is what the MB article says
"Arum and Diaz say that the 'Pretty Boy' was offered in the neighborhood of $7 million to face Margarito. In what could best be described as a 'business move', the same guy who brazenly challenged the bigger Winky Wright decided to bypass Margarito, to collect nearly $4 million to spar with Sharmba Mitchell.
"Flat turned him down like you can not believe," Arum said of Mayweather when he was offered a chance at the WBO title. "Any time we raised his name, Mayweather went crazy."
Could it be that Mayweather will never get in the ring with him?
"I don't know, you never say never," said Arum last week in Los Angeles, where he was in town for Klitschko's open workout with the media. "Floyd is a very proud guy. The more people talk about all these guys ducking Margarito, of anybody, Floyd is the one who'll step up and say,'I'll face him'. He's a ballsy guy but his people have told him that Margarito is the most dangerous guy for him out there." "
