He left Top Rank and became the highest earning athlete of all time, and a certified ATG...While Margarito became a 1 eyes disgrace to the sport...lol why does this even matter?

so you are admitting taking weaker fights was the right decision? he could have fought marg and made max money which was 3 million more and then left top rank....but the risk of losing to marg might have derailed his future plans and all that money so he didnt do it. took the easy path like everyone in the thread said. thanks for agreeing

why does ducking the number 1 guy in the division matter? oh because he ended up with a lot of money so it was ok? is that really the point of boxing though? duck and dodge if you can earn a ton of money down the road...hmmm i guess for the fighter but from a competitive sporting point of view no

O yes, Margarito.... The Ultimate boogie man.

Alot of dynamics could have been at play but the general consensus is/was that Mayweather was scared of Margarito. The only people you will see argue against this is hard core floyd fans or pro black fans, literally thats like 99% of the people say otherwise.

But general consensus can be wrong, now obviously he made the right decision and hindsight is everything and this is what alot of his "hard core" fans will bring up to deflect the conversation or to write off the notion completely.

He would have also had to resign with Top Rank
