    John (Chicago)

This is Cotto's last fight under his Top Rank contract. Are you hearing any rumblings that he may leave Arum after this fight or is it a foregone conclusion that he will re-up?

It is his last fight although I am sure Top Rank will point to extensions or injury time or whatever and will believe he is still under contract. I dont think his leaving or staying is automatic. After the fight I would imagine he and his team will sit down with TR and discuss the future. I will say this -- and I have heard rumblings of this scenario -- if he leaves TR it would not shock me whatsoever if he went to Golden Boy and wound up fighting Mayweather on May 5.

just remember where you heard it first, by yours truly....

Makes sense... he's fought everyone important under Top Rank... nothing else to gain... get out, and fight others... If Cotto signs with GB he gets a Floyd fight guaranteed.

boxing fans can't be upset with a Cotto/Mayweather fight, right? I mean, it's not the fight we want, but I'd rather see Cotto/Mayweather at 154, than Mayweather/Martinez at 153-154. I don't watch skeletons in the ring

Kevin Iole said the same thing the other day. Wouldn't complain about finally seeing that fight, the weight might be an issue though. Iole also said that a big part of Cotto possibly leaving is Miguel not being happy with Arum/Top Rank defending Margarito with the wraps issue. Apparently that's caused a lot of friction behind the scenes and Cotto was never keen on Tony making more money off of him because he's 1000% percent convinced he used the same wraps against him he did against Mosley, or at least tried with the latter. But a $5 million guarantee, PPV upside, and a fight at a sold out MSG was too much to pass up.

But Cotto did miss out on a few months and at least one fight last year with his shoulder surgery. Top Rank got Donaire on that technicality (injury time not being credited to the contract's time frame), so I'm sure they'd do the same if Cotto wanted out.

Floyd sure would be giving his criticizers more ammo with this fight.

And yes i rather see Martinez/Floyd at 154 than this.

Hell Canelo at 154 would be better. Kirkland at 154 would be better.

                Sighh..

Besides Cotto is a pretty big draw himself. If he beats Marg, even bigger. Would floyd not mind actually giving a real percentage out to his opponent? Im imagining somewhere along the lines of a 80/20 or even 75/25 split.

Cotto and Margarito are both going to be pretty damaged coming out of this fight. So yeah...

Well, Floyd holds it in high regard to not fight a guy coming off a loss, so Cotto needs to win tomorrow night (I'm calling it right here, if Miguel doesn't get KO'd, it'll be a controversial UD for Cotto)
