On top of the buy rate, he also had the 9th biggest gate in Nevada History and the fight was the most watched in Mexico's history (more than 1/3 of the country tuned in, that's the same ratio as the superbowl in the U.S.). The fight was a MONSTER financial success, no matter what angle you look at it from.

I predicted it would do 1.3-1.5 mil buys, and as always, ThePrince was right. Also predicted there would be a lot of butthurt, and as you can see from some in this thread...

Finally HBO senior VP has spoken. As for PPV buys this is what he has to say..."We always release figures with the consent of the promoters". Until today we haven't heard anything from HBO regarding PPV household buys for the recent Mayweather/Ortiz fight. Now it is very clear that the promoter of the Mayweather/Ortiz fight did give HBO the consent to release to the public the PPV sold for the said fight. There is only one reason why the promoter will keep things like that away from the public, PPV sold was way too low and too embarrassing to be published. It was a very clear victory for the boxing aficionados because they showed chicken Floyd that they are not buying anymore Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight if is not against the Great Manny Pacquiao. Everybody now knows the posturing of the chicken, all the excuses he threw in just to prevent the fight to happen. You don't have to be a genius to see all the roadblocks thrown by the Mayweather camp and GBP. Let us keep praying that this time chicken Floyd will sign the contract...no more posturing, no more pretending, no more alibis, no more roadblocks, no more finger pointing, no more false accusations and no more lies...just sign the contract. Do it for the fans and satisfy the public demand. Amen.
