And second Chavez Jr should fight Pirog to unify the titles. Martinez flat out ducked Pirog. He doesn't deserve a title shot after flat out ducking and dodging his last two mandatories and just tuned down a career pay-day against Pirog who had a belt.
How the **** is he going to unify the titles if he doesn't fight Martinez and vacates the belt?

Martinez has said why many times on Golpe a Golpe.

for 1, it's a point a pride. he lost his title but never lost it in the ring

      2. it was Carlos Manzon's belt, which is a big deal to him.

3rdly, the green belt is the Latino belt, it is more recognized in the spanish speaking world then the others.

so what if Chavez loses. if he makes it a great fight and loses, people will love him. Chavez might be a bum but if he makes it a fight that more than Canleo can ever say.

even if he loses bad, at least he can say he fought against a great fighter unlike Canelo.

it's a win win for Chavez because nobody expects anything from him.

I wonder if Chavez Jr vs Martinez would be a PPV fight or just regular HBO. If Chavez got 1.5 million viewers fighting a Manfredo, I would imagine a Martinez fight would definitely break the 2 million barrier, which hasn't been done in a while.

also, chavez isnt necessarily just chasin the belt, its also the fighter. Chavez is the most well known marketable fighter at 160, and along with it comes a decent payday.

and for those sayin Martinez ducked Pirog - its really laughable. Pirog beat no one other then an overhyped prospect. and other than Barker, Martinez has been fighting champions or lb 4 lb fighters the past couple of yrs. anyone that really thinks he "ducked" Pirog knows absolutely nothing about boxing

If I remember correctly, Suilaman said he was officially going to announce this in the WBC convention when Rubio has his fight.
