RJJ is a different story because thats such an extreme point, he went from untouchable to KO king.
I don't think you need to prove a guy isn't shot. A fighter should be viewed as his usual self until people can prove that something has changed and he IS shot.

So until he can be proven shot with solid reasons, it does not make sense to just assume he is. Imo, against Pacquiao he did the same things he always does, and just as well as he always does. And despite taking solid shots, he was still coming forward and throwing strong punches into the 12th round.

Anyone who saw Margarito's bout with Garcia before he fought Pac knows he isn't the same.

Let me also be clear. I'm not saying Cotto is more shot. I worded the title a certain way to make it a bit more inflammatory so people would read the thread. I'm saying it is very possible Cotto could be more shot. However my point is simply to say that as far as we know. With all variables and information considered, both men should be viewed as equally shot or the variable be viewed as a wash.

All factors considered, I don't think anything in the Garcia fight automatically makes Margarito not himself. Year of inactivity, trying to log rounds.. Still knocks his man down hard and wins a lobsided decision. He wasn't trying to look phenomenal, he's trying to get back into fighting form.

Here's the link for anyone interested. Apparently they pulled it from youtube. Couldn't find anything worth rewatching on there: http://www.dakdakan.com/2010/05/anto...oberto-garcia/

I have always said that Margarito and Cotto took a few years off each others career in their first fight. With that said my reason for feeling Margarito is more shot than Cotto is because Margarito has taken more punishment than Cotto in his career. Margarito is the example of a fighter taking 3 punches just to land one. Eventually that takes a toll on any fighter no matter what type of chin they have. It is not like Margarito slips, blocks and ducks punches in training either. The man eats punches like most people eat dinner every night. Add to that Magarito is not a one punch KO fighter that means he is taking sustained punishment in every fight he has since he has to wear his opponents down. That is my reasoning for seeing Margarito as being more shot than Cotto. Cotto is no defensive wizard either but I feel he takes less shots and punishment than Margarito does.

I don't understand how either can be considered to be in far better physical condition than the other. They are basically in the exact same point in their career, which is another reason this fight will be so good. The loser is basically done.
