I have myself trained in high altitudes and can tell you that you are in better shape when training at those elevation levels and I don't seem to get the same here in Florida that is basically at sea level.

Just me but I don't think it will be a negative IMO.
i agree with you.. as puerto ricans we must admit that mexicans always have tremendous stamina due to the high sea levels they train at, which is something our damn boxers need to adapt to....

i don't know how Tito did it, but it seemed to me like he never had stamina issues....

Yea I mean there's a reason that Mexico hasn't lost a international soccer game in Mexico City in like 20 years. It's also tough to play in places like La Paz Bolivia when your not used to it.

Tito was in great shape and it doesn't mean you can't be in great shape but I think it helps no doubt.

The last time I visited Mexico City I ran up the stairs at my aunts house and I felt like I ran up 10 flights no joke. I truly felt like a pocho then because they made fun of me and told me I need more time down there and have been in Florida too long..hahah

I honestly think it's genetics. I think it's the big ass heads Mexicans and Asians have because if you notice, Asians have great chins as well.

I know it's not PC but it's the same reason African Americans are so athletic and fast. Puerto Ricans have that slickness and speed to them to because if the African blood in the island.

I think it's genetics and cultural to be honest. People frown on what Marg said about dying in the ring but when you come from a 3rd world country with nothing to lose, your mentality is completely different.

yea i'll go with you on the genetics thing, seems fair to me...

on the margo thing though i have to disagree.... I believe it has to do more with the macho mentality than anything else. I mean yea you don't want to be seen as a *****, but when the macho mentality gets in the way, it made him dumb against pac, instead of the poor mentality of let me fight another day so i can get more bread for my family u know?

Cotto fought back from adversity several times in fights even before the marg fight. I just think that he phrased his comments in the wrong way.

I get what you are saying and I wouldn't call Cotto a coward but I do have to agree with Robert Garcia in what he said. You have to have that mentality because it's what makes quitting not an option.

I do think it's where your from too man, living in the 3rd world is something most people here in the States don't get. We think we have it rough here and we are living like kings compared to people in Mexico and other places and your surroundings make you who you are.

What is that like, though? What's it like when you're at a high altitude?

They say oxygen's thinner and whatnot, but does it like feel different when you're breating? Do you have to take deeper breaths to get the normal amount of oxygen you normally get? How different does one exactly feel at a high altitude compared to being at sea level?

I've ran here and there in PR but can I get a general idea of what it's like when you're, for example, running somewhere like in the mountains?

I think its pre breed in their mind set. Asains and Mexicans are very similar when it comes to core values. They are probably the proudest people you will ever meet.
