Floyd Mayweather Jr. Avoids The Best Fighters

What? That's like saying F the future and only think about right now. That kind of attitude doesn't usually lead to making good business decisions. I'm not up here to make excuses for why Mayweather never faught Margarito or deny that he had the oppurtunity to fight him. I only argue that it wasn't a duck because Arum himself admits that Mayweather was willing to accept the offer to take the fight under reasonable circumstances. Looking back, if anybody would want to turn back time and do things differently it would be Arum not Mayweather. I'd bet that if Arum had to do it over again he'd give Mayweather those guarangtees that he asked for.
Good look on that article from Bouharie by the way. I definitely can see his point of view but I just think that he's not giving enough consideration to the business side of things. People are basically saying that Mayweather ducked Margarito because he didn't go out of his way to fight him. Boxing is a business an a lot of things come down to timing. Knowing what we all now, I certainly don't feel bad that Mayweather never got in the ring with Margarito though.
I mean if we talking about time...2006 was a damn good time to make the fight...Comment

It looks bad because he only became concerned after Pac was being hyped as a threat to his #1 status. Many comments were made bout how Pacs recent performances were su****ious and that he was likely on something because of his improvement. The basis for him demanding drug testing has been proved false after seeing him perform in the exact same manner against JMM a third time, it therefore reflects negatively on him.Comment

Baldo 2? Yeah right. You obviously dont know what the hell youre talking about. Mosley and DLH avoided Floyd in their primes. FMJ called out Tszyu multiple times. Clottey would have done nothing for his resume just like it does nothing for Pac's res. As for Cotto, Why would I fight Cotto when Im on the hunt for the ultimate payday in Oscar? Check your history and watch some post fight interviews man. Shane had a tooth ache, Cotto and Tszyu began mumbling everytime Floyd's name came up. Nobody wanted to see that boy when he wasnt the cash cow. The only fight I wanted him to take was Cotto. All that said, It seems like he made all the right moves because nobody in boxing has a better deal. And nobody picks up a bigger check.Comment

I understand your point and its probably true that he would have gotten discredited, but after this last fight its probably true he was never any real threat to Floyd anyway. Floyd cant be discredited for being better than his competition, but it does look bad that as soon as a threat was perceived he demanded drug testing because of how much Pac had improved since moving up in weight and then Pac goes to show us he hasnt really improved at all. Pac was being pushed as the man to beat Floyd like no fighter before and Floyd seemed less than excited about proving himself.
IMO the test was never an issue. Bob Arum was and is the issue. I hope the pressure remains on him to make the fight. IMO it's now or never as if Pac fights JMM again. We will see a Mayweather vs Judah all over again about the time Bob allows Pac to fight Mayweather.Comment

Quote:
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."Comment

How did it not make business sense though? You get your highest career payday. Buy out your contract(which he did) and go to path of Oscar, Hatton, etc etc...Unless there was fear in losing to Margarito. Which again does that not mean avoiding?

people know about PEDS and they know that athletes use them in all sports. pac fans and haters are made because floyd isnt backing off his stance and THEY KNOW HOW GOOD HE IS. they know he can beat pac on or off PEDS but floyd wants to dominate pac and break him down in the later rounds when pac gets tired and mayweather does not. thats floyds gift its his ability to step it up in the championship roundsComment

I feel ya, however the critics are saying pac looks this way because he's coming down off PEDS and that a blood test is still warranted...
