Look at the little hater. Is this article/thread about Pacquiao? You are pathetic.

Chicago would've been a good place for it. Large Puerto Rican and Mexican population. The crowd would be live.

I would do the same thing. He's not afraid to fight Margarito he signed to fight him, but he signed a contract and Arum put himself in a position to change that. And in changing that Cotto will go from a home game to another away game which is ridiculous.

As much as I want to see the fight I'm happy he's taking this stance. Hopefully this will be the end between Cotto and Top Rank.
I would think that...with all the uncertainty in boxing today, that one never knows absolutely that a fight will be held until both men step into the ring, I would be very surprised if there was not a clause, common to all boxing contracts, allowing for sudden change of opponents and/or venues.

What seemed to be happening here was that the NYSAC doublecrossed Arum, by waiting for nearly 3 weeks, until 2 weeks before the fight, to inform him that Margarito was required to undergo a special medical test.

Since, I have heard that margarito has passed the test, if true, then the point is moot, but I'd bet that Arum won't forget Melvina Lathan. Nor would I if I were him. (As I posted the other day, her $154,000 a year post has been dropped by budget cuts to a Pro Bono position, a dollar a year thing, which of course has nothing to do with the Margarito matter).

As for Cotto sticking out his chest and being "macho" which is the way I read it, it seems that he is either bearing a grudge, feeling neglected, or trying to boost up his support for the fight.

I loom forward to a good fight, and feel that Cotto has taken far less career punishment than Margarito, but that Margarito is an old school, and I really mean "of the old school" fighter who might have felt it less.

So it's a toss up, at least until the first 6 rounds, say, are over. Then that "intangible" comes into play. Margarito took quite a beating from Mosley, but in my opinion this was because he had been really upset by the used pad incident, where he was already found guilty when he knew he was innocent, all before the actual fight. If I'd been looking for a bet, I'd have surely backed Mosley.

So people think this has more to do with Cotto putting his foot down with Top Rank than him being leary of avenging his loss to Margarito and being ****** for almost turning down a 5 million dollar payday?

It sounds to me like Margarito could walk into the ring as weight drained Stevie Wonder and he'd still make Cotto quit.

The obvious plan B should have been the Prudential Center or Izod in New Jersey or Foxwoods. Not Texas, Arizona, nor Colorado. F' him. Take notes Pacquiao, here is a fighter who tells Arum how it's going to be. Not the other way around. Vranes Martyrosian just won a lotto ticket. He's on deck if Margo can't get a liscence in NY.
ou are wasted here, you should be writing scenarios for Hollywood "D" movies. What an imagination????Phew.

Not only on that, but also on the fact that Margarito did show up in great shape against Pacquiao, he did fight just as good or bad as before his suspension. Cotto has faded a lot, he is not on the same level anymore as when he beat Mosley.

No he isn't really saying that. His saying that is purely a reinforcement to his MAJOR statement that he won't fight anywhere other than in New York, and he's adding in these extra items as other fall-back supporting positions.

Wow. I used to defend Cotto when haters were saying he needed to retire because he was shot. He clearly is not shot, seeing how he comfortably schooled Mayorga, but he desire seems to have left him. With his statements on the HBO faceoff about not being willing to leave it all in the ring, and now this, maybe it is best that he does retire after the good payday vs Margarito.
