The fightnormally goes to wherever it generates the most revenue, and which is agreeable to both parties. lso where the best arena for the purpose is available on that might, not as easy an assumption as people think. Then, the locals have to be interested in BOXING, not just hocky or basketball fans........ There's a lot more to making a fight in the right place than one can imagine.

Pretty intelligent of Arum to suggest( maybe) that margarito train this time in a high altitude. This may have been a back up plan in case the licence was refused in New York. And as he already must know every arena in the country, he's also have made sure which ones were available which had an altitude more favourable to his fighter than New York.. THAT'S what I call, "protecting your own fighter" as a promoter( and manaager) is supposed to do.
The word on the street is that he knew all along.

Seriously, has anyone considered the new Amway Center in Orlando, Fl?? The place is awsome, I went to see a couple.of Magics games there last season. Plus theres a HUGE mexican and rican community here in central and south fl ( not to mention cubans, blacks, south americans) the place can sit 5000 and would sell out easily, besides you just cant get any more.neutral than that.

Man there's hardly any Mexican's in Florida.

In Orlando, a place I am very familiar with having family there, it's mostly all Cubans-Dominicans-Ricans, etc.

But it's the flip side to that out west here, because in Denver, it's almost all Mexicans, no Dominicans-Ricans-Cubans, etc. There's some Salvadorians, Guatemalans, but no Ricans, Cubans, or Dominicans.

Besides the SW states, only really New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Illinois, have large Latino populations. So, I am guessing that Arum couldn't get him licensed in NJ, FL, IL.

The possible locations besides NY are Denver, Phoenix, El Paso, and Dallas. Apparently Denver is the leading candidate, as is Phoenix. Mexicans in this region (CO-AZ-NM) would come out and support this fight, esecially since Margarito is in it. It could easily fill up 70% of the Pepsi Center at least.

The possible places in TX are Cowboy Stadium in Arlington and El Paso. Arlington may be a problem, don't the Cowboys play at home this Sunday??? I can't imagine a fight being held there and then a football game the next day. It seems too close. El Paso would be good, but so would Phoenix or Denver. All have extremely large Mexican populations, and would sell well. But, I'm hoping it stays in New York. This fight belongs in MSG. But, being a Denver native, I have no problem if it comes to the Pepsi can.

I'd like it to happen in NYC, but if it came out west to Denver, I have NO PROBLEM with that. Being a Denver native, I might have to go to that for sure at the Pepsi can.

Denver could sell Cotto-Margarito II, we have a huge Latino (mostly Mexican) population, 1/3 of our Metro area is Latino, and they would come out to support Antonio. Any other city in our region would too though, El Paso, Phoenix, etc.
