If Floyd had went life and death with Marquez what would be the reaction?

Just imagine, he won 120-107 with one knock down, and was criticized for not knocking out a 36 year old, Lightweight champion, "small guy", old etc. If he struggled 7-5, or had a close fight which could have gone either way or the majority of people had it for Marquez. Just imagine...Comment

How many did it take Pac?
How many rounds did Oscar win against Pac?
So he clearly had more of a struggle against them than Pac did..Comment

But what relevance does that have to do with this thread? And how does it relate to Pacquaio's fight with Marquez?
How Pacquaio struggled with Marquez and Mayweather's fights with Hatton and Oscar are uncomparable.
The thread is "What if Mayweather went life and death with Marquez"
Something Mayweather simply did not do against either Hatton or Oscar.Comment

How is Floyd's one hand excuse any different than Pacquiao's leg cramps? And whatever happened in the subsequent fight has no bearing on the first... Castillo outworked, outlanded Floyd by a CLEAR wide margin, especially in power shots and had a much better case for getting the W against Floyd than Marquez does against Pac (in any of their 3 fights). So guys acting like Floyd is unbeatable and has never struggled need to fall back.
Fact is, this is the first instance where Manny didn't blow away a common opponent in a more brutal, more thorough, faster, etc way. So like someone said before, the reaction would be the same as it was when Castillo was really robbed of a W and Floyd got a SD against Oscar.
It's just one fight.
The reaction wouldn't be the same... just look at the reactions from "fans" after his last few fights. If he loses one round, its as if he loses the fight. One writer described it as we are so used to seeing Mayweather score an A+ that the moment he scores an A- people tend to look at it as a fail.
However my point is this, Mayweather disputed his "SD win" with an immediate rematch...
Did you feel the same about the 2nd and 3rd rematches between Mayweather and Castillo? Now how many times has Pac got that A- vs JMM?
btw, I had Mayweather beating Castillo both times (I was pulling for Castillo) but had Hoya beating Mayweather (I was pulling for Hoya).Last edited by WESS; 11-20-2011, 04:49 PM.Comment

Mayweather vs DLH was at 154 with Oscar coming off a TKO win and becoming WBC champion at JMW.
DLH vs Pacquiao was at 147, a weight class DLH hadn't make in a decade, while Oscar was coming off an average win against a 140 pounder at 150 named Steve Forbes, a light puncher who puffed up De La Hoya's face even in being shut out.Comment
