this stoppage was no where near as bad as calzaghe's. Manfredo was BADLY wobbled and hurt and chavez was landing in that flurry when the ref stopped it.
against calzaghe on the other hand manfredo was never hurt or even really punched!

Yeah it was a quick stoppage, but Manfredo wasn't gonna' beat him. Get real. Jr is the better fighter though that's not saying much.
The difference between Chavez Jr. and other boxers is we're being subject to the equivalent of his amateur career because his dad is a legend. I don't buy PPV cards because he's headlining them or might be on them, nor do I get HBO and Showtime to see him fight. Do you?
How many people would train and fight 50 or 60 or a hundred and fifty times for free when they could get paid each time in ever increasing amounts because their pops is already wired into the business?
I object if he has a belt already (does he? I can't be arsed to pay sufficient attention to know at this point). But there are plenty of folks that have belts that are BS.
Right now Martinez takes him out brutally in 2 or 3 rounds. He would probably last a few more rounds against Canelo but the result would be a stoppage.
Chavez Jr needs to keep training with a top trainer like Roach. He needs to keep baby-steppin' up the level of his opponents. He's young. He has time. Whether we like it or not.

Chavez Jr. is a little too stiff and doesn’t move his head very much. Also, sometimes his balance is way off when he hooks. However, while I’m not going to predict future greatness from him, I also can’t protest that much against the stoppage. I like Manfredo in general, but he really looked especially bad tonight and in that last flurry wasn’t returning any blows. You have to stop the fight at that point.
