Counter-punching and the pace of the fight last night are only not good fights to people who have mental disorders.
Why doesn't Pacquiao learn to backpeddle???

yes that's true to be fair, regarding my point about the mosley fight, he did totally dominate on the scorecards and fairly so. and he managed that despite being obviously uncomfortable with the style.
my problem with that fight was that he did not impose what he wanted to and what he was doing was dictated by the way mosley was fighting. nor did he attempt to change the pace. pacquiao didn't appear to have any other ideas as to how to change things up. not that there was nothing that could be done but that he had no idea what to change. pac wasn't happy with that fight or during it yet he could not see any changes that he might try. he looked very limited in the sense that all his eggs are in the one basket.
it's enough to get him through almost any fight but the fights that could really cement his legacy- definitively beating marquez or of course getting past mayweather- i don't think he can simply because he doesn't seem to have the idea of what to do when all out aggression doesn't work.
pacquiao, and mayweather, the klitschko's etc are judged on unfair criteria but that is part and parcel of the pound for pound thing- they are going to be subject to the highest criticism if they are to prevail in these lists of superstars.
it seems everyone has their bogeyman in boxing but pacquiao is missing a whole side of his game, whilst normally that he makes it so that it does not matter and becomes irrelevant, there marquez and mayweather to expose and exploit that lacking.Comment

IVE WATCHED THE FIGHT ALL MARQUEZ DID WAS CIRCLE TO HIS LEFT THE WHOLE FIGHT! AND THAT ONE THING THREW PACS WHOLE PLAN OFF! WHEN DID U EVER HERE OR SEE ME SAY MARQUEZ WON OR HE LANDED THE CRISPER PUNCHES? U JUMPED TO 2 CONCLUSIONS ABOUT ME AND UR TOTALY WRONG! IT WAS A DRAW AT BEST BUT HIS LACK OF ACTIVITY IN THE FINAL 3 ROUNDS MAY HAVE LOST IT FOR HIM IMO! MY WHOLE THING IS PAC LOOKED BELOW AVERAGE AS A BOXER AND MADE SOME TERRIBLE MISTAKES WHEN HE WAS FACED WITH ADVERSITY, HE ALWAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE LESS EFFECTIVE WHEN HE FIGHTS A PERSON WHO KNOWS HOW TO ACTUALLY BOX AND IS NOT THIS AMAZING BOXER PEOPLE HAVE MADE HIM OUT TO BE!since when does backpeddling all night and getting outlanded in almost every round transate to a win?
dont give the crisper punches argument - as you can see jmms face was an absolute mess, whereas pac only had stitches from a headbutt...the headbutt was jmms best punch all night.
you people are all trying to convince yourself jmm won because of the crowds reaction.
once the punch stats were released, im sure none of you bothered to rewatch and see that pac won at least 7, and very possibly 9 rounds.
AND IF U WANT TO USE THE PUNCH STAT THEORY THEN JMM SHOULD HAVE WON THE FRIST 2 FIGHTS....
U PAC FANS ARE THE WORST PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH EVER.

Well when the TS starts saying the ****** crap that he has & he generalizes counter-punchers as boring then yes it is about other boxers.
But I get what your saying. The thing is can he learn to be patient & counter punch? Does he have that in his locker?
Don't forget when Hatton fought Pac; a lot of the emphasis was on how Hatton had "changed" and was using his "boxing skills". Roach said its bull**** & he was right.
He also said that you can't teach a guy at that age new tricks, once they get hit or get frustrated; they revert to type.Comment

great post!!!!!!!!i don't mind seeing pac slow down a little bit and wait for the action come his way rather than initiate it all the time. He's getting old, he can't rely on his explosiveness all the time.
He should start using the jab consistently now...it's not like he can't jab anyway so i don't understand why roach is not encouraging him to jab more. They developed his right hand but it's more like a counter right hook. He should use his right hand more on jabbing.Comment

i didnt use punch stats to score this fight; it was evident from the first re-watch that pac outlanded him; no need for stats.
compubox is completely irrelvnt in the first 2, as it makes no mention of pac flattening out jmm 4 times.Comment

He doesn't need to learn how to backpeddle... he needs to learn how to BOX! Boxing involves forward, backward and side to side. I've said since day one that his in-and-out technique leaves him wide open on his way out from exchanges, thus allowing JMM to humiliate the **** out of him. There is NO such thing as running in boxing. The ring is squared with ropes in it. When Floyd jumps over those ropes and starts running towards the dressing room in the middle of the 4th round then you can say he ran... Other than that STFU! Pacquiao is a very talented fighter but he has to have one of the lowest ring IQ's in the sport. He never fights smart by any means. He takes risks and people love that, but at the same time you have to be able to back it up at all times... and he doesn'tComment

You proved the TS's point once again. The problem you're having is you're laser-focused on Pac not on Mosley who is the challenger. Pac doesn't have to prove anything. He's already the champ. Which means he need not be the stalker. He just have to play defense and counter.yes that's true to be fair, regarding my point about the mosley fight, he did totally dominate on the scorecards and fairly so. and he managed that despite being obviously uncomfortable with the style.
my problem with that fight was that he did not impose what he wanted to and what he was doing was dictated by the way mosley was fighting. nor did he attempt to change the pace. pacquiao didn't appear to have any other ideas as to how to change things up. not that there was nothing that could be done but that he had no idea what to change. pac wasn't happy with that fight or during it yet he could not see any changes that he might try. he looked very limited in the sense that all his eggs are in the one basket.

Thing about the Mosley fight was that Pac showed an almost impenatratable defense in some of the rounds. And you know why? He was forced to because of leg cramps. But still, he can't stand the crowd booing the fight. He had to do something. Mosley won't. All Shane's focus was on how to survive the 12 rounds.

Yes, because those fighters you listed went backwards and never went forward (not once) for entire fights and won just like JMM did sat night.Comment
