Roach comes up with great game plans usually,but once the game plan doesnt work there is no plan b.last night manny was confused and frustrated and roach didnt even have any advice to offer...now im not 1 to act like manny didnt have his moments hell he swole marquez up,but he didnt hurt him,knock him down and he got outboxed again and never adjusted at all.why cant he adjust?

Because he only wants to fight. To him, what Marquez is doing isn't fighting, it's running. But it's still effective. -
I don't think that's entirely true, I don't think he can adjust to Marquez.
He adjusted to Cotto when he was having a degree of success and Margarito (to a lesser degree) and he did plenty fine against Morales in the 2nd fight (blah blah blah weight drained)
I don't even think that it's Marquez's style as such though it is a factor it's that Marquez has a sneaky and brilliant counter right hand which Pacquiao cannot figure out (though Pac's left hand and footspeed causes problems for everyone which is why he's was competitive against Marquez without it I think he'd be screwed) For this reason I feel Mayweather's straight right would tear Pacquiao apart, though I expect Pac's straight left to cause some problems early in the fight if it happens though after that performance I can't see it not happening.Comment

I thought Marquez was going to win but by stoppage for my own reasons, I just think personally its always easier to fight someone taller than someone your own size and I think thats been the case with manny lately.
He has fought a bunch of tall guys back to back that didnt really offer much in return, likely he got used to fights being that way and suddenly found himself in a fight against a guy who didnt have to reach for him a guy who had good footwork and one that had a style to give him fits....
Dont think this means an automatic Floyd victory either styles make fights period. yes Floyd has the tools to do what Marquez did no doubt, but there are other attributes that come into play here if they fight, example do you think Floyds chin can hold up against Manny just as Marquez's was able to?
its very possible that Floyds chin cant, and that may be the equalizer.....Comment

great puncher, but one dimensional. He was matchmade with fighers who were completely overated. Cotto IMO is one of the more overated fighters of this decade. Dead srs.Comment

Because Marquez is a very smart boxer, and he had an incredible game plan, Beristain was better than Roach last night.
I don't think that Pacquiao is unable to adjust, it's just that Marquez has an extremely hard style to decipher and Pacquiao gets frustrated pretty easily. You could see that after 3 or 4 rounds Pac was getting frustrated and confused, he just didn't know what to do to hit Marquez. Then he tried to do what has worked for him against flat footed brawlers, just throw a lot of punches and expect that at least a couple of those landed. Marquez just out boxed Manny last night, the thing is that it wasn't just that he couldn't hit him, but that Marquez also made some great but subtle feints that Manny couldn't decipher and that made him receive some hard shots to the face.
At the end it was just too much for Manny, I mean he was having problems with Marquez's footwork, feints, combinations and body movement ...Last edited by vacon04; 11-13-2011, 06:17 PM.Comment
