well, at the end of the day it is ducking because I'm sure if Chavez truly wanted martinez so badly he could tell bob arum "I'm not fighting anyone but martinez next" and arum would have to make the fight. So in that sense he is ducking him.

I'm not making excuses for him, I just think in certain cases like chavez or canelo, they are being guided and protected not only by their promoters but the WBC itself.

My only little point was that I don't think chavez jr is purposely ducking martinez because I actually think he would fight him, if not for everyone else making him fight some lesser opponent.

I think everyone knows Chavez will get killed by Martinez. that much everyone can agree on (except for trolls).

Protected is a term for younger fighter. For them to build a fan base, gain experience, and build up a name for revenue.

Ducking is a term for established fighters who don't want to get their ass beat.

You can also using ducking for a "protected" fighter who refuses to fight another young highly touted prospect. Example: Juanma-Gamboa.

Difference with Canelo and JJCjr is though. You get the feeling Canelo is 1-2 fights away from stepping up to big comp. JCCjr, you get the feeling he just don't want to lose even when he has like 40 fights.
