A great quote from Scott Christ over at Bad Left Hook:

"Now, chances are this will all go through. While it's not a formality in the normal sense, as Donovan notes, it's got to be known by Top Rank that Margarito will be approved. We're talking about a case where the fight has been promoted with a major press conference in the state, which was attended by commission chairperson Melvina Lathan. You'd think if there was any serious concern that Margarito would not be licensed by New York, Lathan and Arum would have said something."

The NY commission chairperson was present at the freaking press conference. This has got to be nothing but a formality.

I believe that the boxing commissions have treated Margarito abominably, and seriously interfered with his making a living. His peak has gone and if he has to go touting around the country begging for a licence to box, well, American Justice has just taken another hit. I haven't thought much of it anyway for a long time, ever since the OJ Simpson case, with confirmed criminals going scott free on minute technicalities, and often, it seemd to me on none.
