Name your three choices for fighters who built/improved their rep on a loss

Here's my top three, just off the top of my head:

    1. Evander Holyfield (vs. Rid**** Bowe I)

    2. Vitali Klitschko (vs. Lennox Lewis)

    3. Mike Tyson (vs. Kevin McBride)

(Okay, I couldn't think of a third one off the top of my head...)

Definetly Vitali vs. Lennox. I don't think Castillo really got much rep when he lost to Corrales. For the people that followed him, they knew how talented he was.

          (Can't think of anymore)

the only reason why ppl consider vitali as the premier heavyweight is because of his LOSS to Lewis............apart from that fight, he hasn't really proved much.....i mean he won a vacant title against a golfer and beat danny williams.........

Marco Antonio Barrera in the great first fight with Erik Morales. I thought he won the fight but regardless he improved his rep.

                Exactly.

It was the way that Vitali took and gave shots that gave him respect from boxing fans. Vitali is actually stepping up in class when he fights Rahman BUT Rahman isn't much better then his resume.

An ANCIENT Holyfield beat him. That is just pathetic when you get right down to it.

dammit, vitali has beat every opponent put in front of him, barring technicalities he suffered from the lewis and byrd fight. and still, outboxing them. i'd garauntee the rematches would be different.

moochi, vitali has proved that he at very least can hang with any fighter you can name.

back to the subject, berrera and morales was a helluva trilogy that boosted both of thier careers.

tarver is certainly a great example also.

gimme a bit to think about this one. it's a good question.

you misunderstood me a bit bro............

i too consider vitali as the premier one at the moment, but, BASING on achievements, he hasn't achieved anything more than the others.....and the sole reason was his loss to Lewis....i think had the fight continued Lewis would have taken Vitali out, but that is hypothetical...

Rahman is probably Vitali's 2nd best opponent to date....although I think Rahman is ****e and Vitali should KO him....so after this win, Vitali will have more to show for his premier-man status...
