We finally found someone who can actually punch and is not feather fisted willing to take on heavy punchers like Angulo unlike some champion who would not (I'm looking at Berto).

I can't wait for him to take on Alvarez. Heck, I won't be ashamed to go on public conversation outside the internet and talk about James Kirkland.

You have to respect his power and determination.

HOWEVER..

His defense is still shit and he can't take a punch for shit. Angulo foolishly punched himself out. I know we can't say for certain what would have happened if he didn't punch himself out but do you really think Kirkland would have survived if Angulo was fresh? I don't.

I also question how hard Angulo trained for the fight, he may have been relying on an easy knockout.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure we'll see a rematch.

KIRKLAND SUCKS. He got owned in the first round and dropped by the first big shot, the only reason Angulo lost was because he blew his load and KO'd himself, Kirkland didnt do crap, the Ref shouldve stopped the fight in first round. in a rematch Angulo will KO Kirkland in Rd #1 or #2.

Its good to look good against someone who blew his load and is at 5% of his best, while Kirkland got his clock cleaned out and was just getting into the fight

This is boxing, you make a mistake, good fighters make you pay for that mistake. Angulo made a mistake. He got over confident, he threw a ton of unnecessary punches. Kirkland got hit flush, he got up, composed himself, weathered the storm, took advantage of his opponents mistake and made him pay. Kirkland deserves credit and its shame that someone put all that hard work into getting ready for the fight, showed that kind of heart and determination in the ring and people just shrug it off and say he got lucky. He won that fight because he deserved to win.

Funny since everyone had him beingKO'd as soon as the fight with Angulo was made. Enjoy the fight, hes not perfect but who is.. and what happens when that fighter gets punched in the mouth after they unloaded thier biggest shot and hes still there stalking...

Kirkland is the Truth Machine... If he fights Lara, it will be Joel Julio all over again.

I enjoy watching his fights but the dude makes the same mistakes he made in his last fights. His defense is still horrendous and he WILL get knocked out AGAIN by a top tier puncher. If some unknown jap laid him out imagine what those on top of his division would do.

Kirkland deserves some credit for stopping Angulo, when exactly does a fighter deserve credit, if not when he comes back from being stopped by a featherfisted fighter to stop real awesome power.

Just watched the fight. All i saw was a one dimensional brawler blow his load in the first round and not recover.

Kirkland's lack of defence and punch resistance will stop him from ever being a top contender.
