I have to say that I am impressed with the way Kirkland came off the canvass to finish a tough, hard hitting guy like Angulo.

He did make a big step tonight. Let's see who is next and how that turns out.

I think Cotto and Canelo both beat him, but I bet on El perro so WTF do I know.

Seriously. Props to Kirkland for surviving the knockdown and ensuing onslaught....he deserves major credit for that. But make no mistake the only reason he won is cause Angulo fought like an idiot and completely punched himself out. THat was Mike Jones versus Soto-Karass-esque.

Kirkland can't take a punch. Any sharp puncher would spark him out.

Don't get all crazy over Kirkland now he looked as bad as angulo.
People are still hyper after a very good fight. It generally taken 24 hours for it to calm down.

So why don't you take this thread and shove it up your ass, and go to sleep Commie. Nobody is thinking of Kirkland as a All-Time beater anyway, just giving him his credit for proving everyone wrong, with what was perceived as him having a weak chin, VS Angulo who was perceived as Iron Chinned and just as strong.

        Pipe down Mutant.

He did nothing to dispell that. He got hit with one clean punch and it dropped him hard.

When Angulo went all Mike Jones on him nothing really landed. After that Angulo had NOTHING left. Taking a punch from Angulo from mid way through the 1st and after tells us nothing about his chin. Angulo could hardly move his arms at that point.

Thank u it seems ur the only one that understands where I'm coming from. It wasn't a punch that turned the fight around it was Angulo gassing himself out. People r acting like Kirkland belongs with the top fighters now. Come on now let's b real.

I feel bad for Angulo. He threw like 50 unanswered punches. What more can you do against a guy in total defense mode?

Sure he shouldn't have punched himself out, but should a ref allow someone to go 2 minutes without throwing a punch?

It's irrelevant and besides the point now is it?

He was perceived as weak chinned, not good enough of a boxer to outmaneuver Angulo, and couldn't beat him in his own game. Therefore the general consensus was that he was going to Mexico as a Sacrificial lamb for Angulo. It wasn't the case. He got dropped, picked himself up and used his stamina to comeback. Yes Angulo wore himself out but so what? Point is, Kirkland held on and came back. Stamina goes a long way in getting up from knockdowns, it isn't all chin.

Agree with all of that, and he deserves major props for that.

But to me, he still showed he can't take a punch and will be in trouble against someone who is a little sharper than Angulo.

Unless there is a rematch between these two and Angulo reverses the outcome. For the time being, Kirkland is the Alpha-Male of the aggressive, come-forward type fighters at 154. Angulo held that honor, but it has to be Kirkland now. WINS HAVE TO COUNT FOR SOMETHING. Can he be outboxed and knocked out with good, accurate counter punching? Sure.

But between the brawlers, aggressive Margarito types, he made a name for himself tonight.

Props to Kirkland and he deserves much adulation for what he did tonight...But, with his style and chin he will be exposed again before too long...Plus, with his style he wont have a long career...
