I myself has spoken to Sauerland about it, and without revealing numbers, he said that Interbox's offer was the same as saying that they where not interested at this point in time.
No surprise that Sauerland would say something that favored their fighter, and of course without revealing any numbers. And with all that has occurred in Pavlik's life in the recent past. I personally have a hard time believing anyone would offer him more then they would Kessler. Honestly, it all sounds a little fishy to me. But, then again who am I.

    • Bute just hasn't beaten guys like Abraham, Green, Taylor, or Kessler to get the respect he deserves. i took notice of how well he boxed Sakio Bika and knew he wasnt just a protected Canadian fighter. Johnson had plenty of chances to hit Bute but he knew something most of the public doesnt, which is that Bute has some real skill. Also, Bute threw a left uppercut to the body that Glen partially blocked that resulted in Glen's low output with the right hand. either that or he was trying to not give Bute a chance to counter.

      • and though Johnson looked every year of his age of 42, he still has never been down or knocked out, asking that from Bute is like asking that from anyone who has fought him in the last two years. Cloud couldnt, Froch couldnt, but now you expect Bute, a fighter most of you already claimed as hype, to do it. everyone is just mad because he was too easy for Bute, and you were already waiting to say "i told you so" when you thought Glen was going to crack him in the same manner as he did to Froch.

im just excited that there is another elite supermiddle to put in the mix.

You're being ridiculous. He fought no worse against Bute than he did against Dawson in the rematch. Less than five months ago he gave Froch all he could handle and he would give Froch all he could handle if they fought again tomorrow. He's too old to cope with a certain style maybe - skilled boxers with good speed, excellent footwork, a good jab and a long reach. But he'd still beat many of the fighters ranked in the Super Middleweight top 10.

Pavlik ,prefer taking a beer instead fighting Bute.
Kessler prefer ran away from the most lucrative fight against Bute.
And Froch and Ward have to finish the super 6.

What can Bute do more then keeping busy.
He has too refuse to fight the mandatory fights?
What would american people would realy say if he was american?

I bet you...that he would be on the top list of the P4P.
            Thats for sure.
I disagree about the P4P bit - he hasn't got the resume for that - but I agree with the rest of your post. US fighters never get any criticism for refusing to fight away from home. The double standards from US fans is just laughable.

            • This was a friendly sparring session. Glen Johnson wouldn't dare scratch the golden boy of Canadian boxing and his best friend forever, pretty boy Lucian Bute.

Yeah based on resume they deserve their higher ranking. But in a head to head, Bute would be a big favourite against Froch and against Ward it would be a pick 'em fight. If the ranking was based on who is actually likely to win a head to head, Ward and Bute would be joint #1.

How much was he offered exactly? Or are you taking Kessler's word for it without any evidence?

If you believe anything Arum says, I have a very nice second hand car I'd like to sell you.

Sauerland would hardly be likely to admit that Kessler just didn't want to fight Bute, so what else could they say? If the offer had really been so bad, they would certainly have revealed numbers. Bute was in the driving seat because Showtime have promised him a fight with the Super 6 winner, whereas outside of Denmark no one considers Kessler to be a serious player at the moment after such a long lay-off and without having fought anyone meaningful since he came back. If Kessler seriously thought he had a good chance of winning he would have been ****** to turn the fight down but he clearly thought it was too high a risk.

every offer deserves a counter, right?

fair is fair and bedard from InterBox said they only got 1 offer for Bute to fight outside quebec in 5 years. Hennessy offered them cash to fight froch in 2009 but bute wanted to clear that whole andrade thing up.
