A close fight doesn't mean he was having trouble. Close score cards don't mean ****. Bottom line. He was never in trouble, he was never forced to fight when he didn't want too. He moved when he wanted to, he boxed when he wanted too. He just made the decision to play it safe and run the last half of the fight, like Oscar did vs Tito.

He won the first 5 rounds fairly easily, then got on his bike.

It's not? Did you not see the fight with Akifumi Shimoda? he was shut out, lost EVERY round EASILY. Most of it had to di with Shimoda being a southpaw. He got a seriously lucky break when he caught him and put him down, then out. He'd most definitely lose a rematch.

Rigo is maybe 10x the fighter Shimoda is.

He is THE BEST Cuban defector, plain and simple. You have seen what Gamboa, Lara and even Johnson are becoming. Despaigne would be on the fast track as well had he not met Sillakh (who is the future). Out of them all, Rigo is the cream of that crop.

This would be a great fight but Rigs has let me down big time. I thought for sure he would have like 3 belts by now

                lmao

Are you under the impression that I called Rigondeaux that? The confusion here is mounting quickly! lol

I quoted the previous poster (who called Rigo a "boxing infant"), then quoted one of my earlier posts as a reply.

I tend to agree with you, Guillermo might just be the most talented of the Cuban defectors.

Geez, bro.... "El Chacal" is moving a little slower than I would like...but three belts already? lol I think we can excuse him for not racking them up in only eight pro fights....

Ah! I'm sorry man. I've just been really annoyed with some of the replies on this post. You can actually see who follows the sport and who doesn't when it comes to Rigo, it's amazing. People looking at his boxrec and thinking they know everything, yet boxrec doesn't tell his story nor show his credentials prior to becoming pro.

                      lol No worries, bro.

There's no doubt, Rigo is a talent. I just hope he settles into the pro game fast enough to make his mark. Guillermo turned 31 about five weeks ago. His window is small. Although he has a ton of amateur experience and success, he's still finding his footing as a professional. The ams and pros are simply different. "El Chacal" unfortunately doesn't have the luxury of growing into his new role. He's had to be born into the pro ranks almost fully formed. That's asking a lot of anyone, even one of the greatest amateurs of all time....
