Cordoba gave Rigo problems and Rigo ran like a little b!tch!!! Cordoba was able to time Rigo; and he was able to touch Rigo with that left hook. What do you think Donaire is going to do when Rigo comes flying in with his right hand and leaving his left at his side? Donaire is going to SPARK Rigo real quick and will send him to the canvas. Rigo is then going to run all night ala the Cordoba fight and hope for a SD. Rigo dosen't do well with fighters that **** BACK!!! Donaires resume is much more refined then Rigo's. Rigo has only fought 8 times as a professional and does a SD with a fighter the only fighter that fights back (Cordoba). No way Rigo does anything to Donaire!!! Donaire will light Rigo up and then catch him with a left, and put him on the canvas. If Rigo starts running (ala Narvaez)then people will know Rigo better as a runner and not a fighter.

I was really disappointed with the way Rigondeaux handled his fight with Cordoba after Rigo touched the canvass. (That's literally what happened; Guillermo stabilized himself by momentarily touching the canvass with his glove.) However, "El Chacal" came back in his next fight to tear Willie Casey a new one, annihilating the Irishman at home in the first round. Considering that Rigo has so few pro fights, and apparently learned from his less-than-sparkling performance against Cordoba, it's a little early to conclude that Guillermo has a tendency to "get on his bike" after being hit.

I have to favor Donaire if he and Rigondeaux meet in the near future. Nonito is clearly an excellent fighter with far more professional experience than Guillermo. But it should be a tough fight for both men. "El Chacal" is a gifted boxer. I think he's simply finding his footing in the pros. I would have to see a few more fights where Rigo avoids contact with his opponent before labeling him a runner. The Ramos fight will give us a better idea of where Rigo's headed.

Here's the full interview from Reynaldo Sanchez, in spanish:

A writer from boxingscene could probably transcript it and add it to the article in english so others can understand.

Thanks for the link, bro. I really enjoyed that interview. I'm not going to go as far as translating the whole video, but I'd like to point out an error in Boxingscene's brief translation: it was Rigo's conditioning coach, D.J. Montanocordoba, that called Nonito Donaire "one-dimensional" and "exposed by Narvaez", not Rigondeaux.

rigo has to wait. even his promoter (top rank) hasn't lined him up as future opponent for donaire. arce, nishioka and vasquez jr are the names mentioned by top rank as possible next opponent for donaire. maybe he will join that list if he performs impressively against ramos.

Lacks defense? The dudes fights are characterized by overly cautious low contact affairs where his opponent is unable to land anything.
