Why doesnt anyone respect floyd?

Truth is I think everybody respects his abilities in the ring he can fight, he is probably the best counter puncher in the game right now, he does have mad talent.

But ducking big fights doesnt sit well with fans, cheap shotting opponents doesnt neither, talking the way he does and beating up on women isnt going to get him respect neither.

as a person I dont respect him as a fighter if you were to go head to head with Floyd you better respect him or he will cut your head off.

But as a person I think the dog **** I stepped in, in my back yard last week deserves more respect than Floyd does

I don't think it has anything to do with lack of respect. In fact, I think all those people who talk reckless to him, respect him too much. What provokes the random outburts by "haters" are his physical stature (only 5'8" 147lbs), jealousy, and technology. The internet and social media has made everyone feel like their opinion matters. At one point, athletes, stars, etc were unattainable. At one point if you bought an album and it ******, you could only gripe about it with your friends. Now you can add a "@" and tell the artist directly. This has given these "haters" a false sense of importance. For one, it's laughable to call a guy who stands and fights someone for a living a coward in any way, shape, or form. Yet, frail disk jockeys sit behind a mic and soundboard and assume the tough guy role and in turn call a professional fighter a coward. It's odd. But I was always told, anytime a stranger can hold a conversation longer than 5 mins about you....they're paying too much attention to you. Haters say Floyd fights put them to sleep...yet can tell you everything that happened in the fight. Haters say Floyd will be broke and he's dumb with his money....then get mad when he breaks the old business model of fighters doing the fighter and the promoter counting the money. They're never pleased. And the fact that so many people are waiting on the day he loses, proves his skills are respected by those very people hating.

This is something that really annoys me. How can anyone who fights for a living be called a coward.

As to Mayweather looking like a "joke," it's strictly your opinion homie, some people share it, while others don't. Mainly, someone would have to be pretty obtuse/uninformed to think Mayweather is a joke; his career has been brilliant both in terms of how he’s managed it and the fights he's won. If he were a "joke" as you put it, none of what he's accomplished would be possible, it's okay to not to like him and say he's earned his props at the same time.

There are lots of reasons why people don't like Floyd Mayweather, but my gut tells me it's racial in the end. Americans like their black folk to be soft spoken, humble, or even docile. They prefer that their sports heroes be contrite for no reason, spotless, and uncontroversial. Floyd Mayweather is none of those things, he's loud, direct, and occasionally obnoxious, but on the whole, he's real. His persona, that has proven to be amazingly lucrative contains none of the requisite humility that the boxing community wants from its fighters, and so he's punished in the media.

Black people are not allowed to be arrogant or prideful, a trait which is all too common in the white community. If Floyd were callow and soft spoken he'd probably be making even more money than he's making now, just in endorsements, but the problem is, that image doesn't comport with Mayweather the man.

Folks will always find a reason to hate Floyd Mayweather, especially if he chooses to keep speaking his mind.

Bull****. Floyd is as far from real as it gets. Ignorant Black people , like FLoyd, would love for it to be like that though, that a person could act ignorant and arrogant and come out squeaky clean but it doesnt work like that. Flo yd is somewhat of a joke in boxing right now, but Floyd respects himself and thats the main thing, as he has to wake up everday with himself and look at himself in the mirror.
