Background:
When Marquez fought Mayweather, he never had a chance to prepare. Instead of bulking up with muscles as he has this time, lightweight Marquez had to fatten himself up to the CONTRACTED CATCH weight of 144 lbs.
It was a FAT Marquez that fought Mayweather who chose not to honestly weigh in at the contracted weight of 144 lbs. Estimates had him as high as 155 lbs., but we can never find out the truth because Floyd REFUSED to be weighted on fight night.
Despite all of his physical disadvantages, Marquez, who didn't even have a tune up fight higher than lightweight (as he has this time around), was able to hit Mayweather flush at least 6 times during their fight with the same punch that a bigger Mosley almost KTFO Floyd with. Naturally, Mayweather couldn't possibly get hurt because he was effectively a jr. middleweight getting hit by a FAT lightweight.
Today:
Marquez is a lean and mean 144 lbs. super fighter who has had a chance to give himself tune ups above lightweight. This is not the FAT Marquez that Floyd cherrypicked. This is a well trained muscular Marquez who has had the chance to acclimate to his new weight.
Conclusion:
If a jr. middleweight Floyd Mayweather couldn't even hurt (much less KO) a FAT lightweight Marquez who he cheated during the weigh ins, what makes you think that Floyd would do better against Marquez this time around?
If Floyd fought Marquez today without cheating, then he would lose. It is a much better Marquez. A new and improved version of the fat one that he cherrypicked and then cheated back then.
