    Don King

Why do people still do business with him and fighters sign with him? I’ve never heard anyone ever say a good thing about him.

        1) He's still one of, if not, the most popular figure in boxing.

        2) He entangled/entangles himself in such a web that it takes time for him to be ousted.

If his fighter has a title, he has to be given options on the opponent for voluntary defenses, in the case of his boxer losing. Cloud-Pascal didn't get made because of this one point of disagreement. Either that or a fighter would have to sign or be co-promoted by him to actually get a fight. He spent the 80s and 90s scheduling inhouse fights and forcing contract extensions.

        3) He's in bed with the sanctioning organizations, so he'll get you a high ranking without a fight inside the ring and he can keep you from getting one also.

King is both what's wrong and what's right with boxing. If you really want to know more about him I'd suggest reading this book. King is a total sleaze, but he's brilliant. This book was an excellent read in my opinion.

I heard this from a former Don King fighter: Don may steal 2 million from you, and pay you 1.5 mill. Other promoters will steal 2 million from you and pay you 850k. Which promoter are you going with?

I'm dressing up as Don King for Halloween lol. If you really want to know how corrupt he actually is read The Life and Crimes of Don King by Jack Newfield. I have read it twice now, it is crazy the stuff that he did.
