i've asked the same question a million times, and could never get a straight answer regarding how all of these guys can be in the same weight range in the 90's, yet hopkins doesn't have any of these fighters on his 90's resume...all i got was excuses...most recognizable win against a solid name opponent back then was simon brown, and even brown was a blown up welterweight who had seen better days...

hard for me to fathom hopkins having a 20 win defense run with the names mentioned, that he mysteriously sidestepped...
Out of the names the poster above mentioned, only two of those fighters fought each other ( Toney and McCallum).

Why is Hopkins held to a different standard than those fighters mentioned ?

That's about the reason why I made this thread: the thing with Hopkins is that he gives the noobs the impression of watching an "old-school fight" (whatever that means), so the all noobs think "wow, old-school is cool... Not like nowadays when I'm a sad, sore loser with no hope. Man, if the old-school was still here, I'd be a superchamp!!" (while I still don't understand what "old-school" is really means... The boxing science is supposed to evolve and get better with time, not to get worse)... So the classic noob/troll starts raging out: " dude, you hate hopkins? You should have seen what they did in back in the 50's..." So I go: "dude, your dad wasn't even born in the 50's.. What on Earth can you know about boxing schools in the 50's??" And the noob goes: "I know it because Hopkins is old-school, man!! You know? Everything in the old-school was better and, uh... More true!!!" So the only possible answer left is "Shut up, noob."

hobkins is ****. a dirty cheating crybaby! Got beat by a "white boy" and flopped against Jones and Dawson. Spanked twice by Taylor!! Biggest wins Tito and hoha, WW's. Will go down as the most tarnished title holder in the history of boxing!

He is given a pass for fighting dirty, and it didn't start when he got old. A lot of his elite level career he was given a pass for fighting dirty. A headbutt isn't veteran tricks, it's a blatant freaking headbutt.

Dawson was clearly too much for Hopkins to bully around. He would have been exposed in a humiliating fashion had it not been for the unexpected incident in the second round.

Alright alright folks... Let's cool this down a little bit, I don't want to make it sound like a "who hates Hopkins" parade... Anyway I'm not surprised that HBO enjoys so much laying under his ****... Every Hopkins fight fruits milion dollars in payperview/tickets/merchandise money. In the end it's their own "golden calf" and they do their best to promote him.
