Not last fight, where Toney had a glorified sparring session with Damon Reed, but in his previous boxing match, total BUM Matt Greer had Toney badly hurt in the first round. And Toney was at a relatively low weight for that fight, 217.

Compared to Greer, Lebedev is Vitali Klitschko.

There are many signs of disaster for Toney in this fight.

--the presence of "Bad News Buddy McGirt," the Angel of Death in Toney's corner. "Come on baby, do it like we did in the gym. In the gym!"

--the fact that Toney will have undergone drastic weight loss, from 257 to 200, IF he makes weight, which is no sure thing.

--the fact that Toney hasn't looked good in a fight since the first Sam Peter match, where he seemingly suffered brain damage. His speech patterns have never been the same since that fight.

--his financial desperation, seen in his blowout UFC loss to Randy Couture and his willingness to go to Russia (Toney is afraid of flying) to fight a top young cruiserweight. Also seen in his aborted attempt to fight Ken Shamrock.

--his shocking deterioration documented with a sick glee by Eli Seckbach's videos, where Toney is seen glassy-eyed, drooling and slurring through "interviews" where one needs subtitles to understand him.

"I won't let you take this kind of punishment" is the only thing McGirt ever says to his fighters anymore.

He tried to make a slick boxer out of Lamon Brewster for crying out loud.

Yep. And my fave, "Come on baby, do it like we did in the gym. In the gym!"

Bad News Buddy is a like a black cloud hovering over the head of every fighter he's involved with.

              BUMP on human interest alone

**yeah at Toney's age while cutting all this weight might be good, dunno if dropping to Cruiser will turn out to be a smart decision, as it's a pretty big drop in weight

Yeah, that wasnt a serious training session, just loosening up, working on a few small things in casual fashion...

just because Toney looks thinner, doesnt mean he's in great shape. He was being lazy with his punches in that video. Didn't look like he was giving it 100

James is looking faster than where he was at in the recent past, which isn't saying much, seeing as he had given up his speed advantage over heavyweights. His feet are still slow and methodical, but not as slow and methodical as they been for a few years now.

If Lebedev makes the mistake of languishing on the inside for long stretches, Toney wins lose; but if Denis makes the decision to stay on the outside, he's winning a decision. Toney's foot speed is just too slow to get to Lebedev (seriously... it showed even at 217 in his fight against Greer) consistently enough to win in a decision in Russia.

Depending how Lebedev fights will determine the outcome.
