    i agree with this...

i would put him like #3 or #4 right now in featherweight still, if anybody disagrees i'm willing to compromise to top 5 still lol

I say no, unless with his short commings he can beat the elite around his division. But I doubt it

I laugh when ppl said he was the next trinidad. The association of those two got blowned out of proportion. But he still can be something bigger then what he is now.

For a while there, you could understand why. But Lopez began to believe his own hype and fell in love with his power, to the detriment of his defense. Now it appears that JuanMa might be too far gone to reverse course.

I cannot consider him elite. Outside of his sharp, tight, right hook, every punch he throws is unbelievably ugly. He can't throw a left hand for his life...if he fought Donaire or Gamboa he literally wouldn't land one left hand on them.

The guy has a lot of heart and he's got some pop in that right hand, but he'll never beat the elites and he is not elite...he is simply not very skilled.

Icon like a Trinidad, Gomez, Benitez or Cotto? Not at all. Right now he is not even top 25 in Puerto Rican boxing history and to reach the level of those 4 it would take wins over Salido, Gamboa, Donaire and going up to atleast 135 and being ranked atleast top 7 P4P for a long time.

                  Nope...

I found it hilarious though that people were so quick to put Juan Ma over Cotto as if Juan Ma had done as much in his carer and or even being an overall better fighter than Cotto.

                  Cotto >>>>> Juan Ma

JuanMa still has to be considered one of the top guys in his division, which, by definition, makes him elite. This isn't to say that I consider Lopez a "P4P" fighter, however.

i remember him before the deleon fight, and juanma has excellent boxing skills.

post deleon fight, he fell inlove with his power.

if he would just go back to the basics, box more, be more patient and the knock outs will come naturally.

i think juanma still has it in him to be the next PR star, the question is will he choose the right path?
