Juama: The Next Puerto Rican Icon-Yes or No?

I say no. he hasnt improved and has no defence. he struggles w/ journeymen (mtagwa, oliver), and theres no way he beats gamboa. heck, salido might even ko him again. his biggest win would be against marquez, who in my opinion took a dive if you notice after the fight he was shaking hands and everything with juanma with the shoulder that was supposedly injured. they need to do the rematch. the current and last pr boxing icon is cotto no question. what about u guys?

If he can somehow manage to beat Gamboa and Donaire sometime down the road. Hey why not? He is going to have to improve that defense and mindset though and I don't see it happening. I think he'll be the next big puerto rican "what if". The guy is talented, he just needs to learn some smarts.

No he will never beat an elite fighter. He's just not very good and never will be.

        ^^^^^^^^^^

If his style does not change with better D, he will be irrelevant in 2-3 fights.

Actually I think he's an elite fighter, just not the "legend" that his fans make him out to be. I would have him beating most top 10 guys in his division.

                    No.

I like JuanMa, but he was taken to the brink by journeyman Rogers Mtagwa and convincingly beaten by Salido. While Orlando is a very solid fighter, he's not exactly someone who beats an "icon". There are those that say Lopez just needs to improve his defense. JuanMa has demonstrated that this is easier said than done, as he looked extremely hittable in his last fight versus a feather-fisted journeyman in Mike Oliver. Lopez will probably have a relatively successful career, but, at this stage, it's fairly certain he'll never be a superstar.
