Juan Manuel Marquez vs Michael Katsidis comes to mind as a nice infight.

          Brawling:

I'd describe brawling as a boxer focused on getting full leverage behind his punches (usually mid-range) while paying little attention to defense.

          In-fighting:

As for in-fighting I would describe it as smothering your opponent's offense while throwing short, compact punches at close range.

Barkley the brawler. Toney the infighter.

Even with your example of brawling, that fight had a lot of well placed shots, good combos, both fighters anticipated when to throw their next shot over their opponents.

Thing is in boxing at the world class level, even the brawls have a lot of strategy behind them, feints, well placed punches, and positioning.

And another good example of some great infighting was Chavez/Taylor

Truthfully, they r the same thing. Infighting is just another, easier way of saying "brawling with skill"...

                Maidana... Brawler

                Roberto Duran... Infighter

Both work equally well with outside boxers, they both just have their strengths and weaknesses.

Brawlers r awkward, and therefore their punches r hard to time properly, which is why they have success despite lack of skill. However, they have poor defense, r usually really slow, and throw their punches so wide a good, fast boxer can land 2 or 3 right up the middle before they can land.

Infighters OBVIOUSLY dominate infighting, therefore any ourside boxer will be mostly shut down by them once they let that happen. Their biggest problem is that they aren't awkward enough, and r therefore easier to time and counter.

In fighting is an art and science. Nobody did it better than Julio Caesar Chavez, Joe Frazier, and Mike Tyson ( when he was with Cus and Rooney). The head movement, cutting the ring off, coming in with the jab and working the body and head. Throwing inside combinations. That's in fighting.

Brawling is nothing but uncontrolled, roughhousing tactics, not pretty but sometimes it get the job done. The best two fighter I can think of off that were great at it was Jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano. Great power in both hands, relentless, and just mauled you until you incinerated.
