Pirog's team continues to act as if he is clearly the #2 MW. How has he proven he is better than N'Jikam, Lee, Macklin, Sturm, Proksa, Golovkin, Geale? His best win is against Jacobs and he was hardly impressive against Maciel, which took place before his last fight.
I don't think it makes sense to argue about a fight Martinez vs Pirog. We'll see Pirog next year against "someone" on US TV and afterwards we'll see what the demand is like to see him against Martinez.
After winning against Jacobs HBO was so upset that they didn't even consider to interview Pirog, although Lampley and Stewart really appreciated the style of Pirog even before he knocked Jacobs out.
I hope Pirog can show his supeb skill level a second time to have the master of the sweet science on American TV.
Uhmmmm.....No, thats not how life works. Lara's perceived win over Williams is just that...perceived. But one of the main belts is still a main belt, Lara is still coming off a lose and at most is an optional defense.
Now, before you come raging, I did not call Lara a bad fighter, I think he is good, but he needs to earn his chops on paper, not just in a small community of boxing fans and if so many people are indeed looking for that guy to fight again on HBO will pick it up and there should be enough money for everyone.
Still it is Lara who is the proverbial beggar and it is Pirog who is the chooser.
The situation is obviously reversed when it comes to Pirog vs Martinez.
Indeed....the problem is,EVERYONE who watched the fight-including ringside observers and commentaters-observed the same damn thing...in other words,it is not the sort of hallucination type percetion that you imply. Lara's stock went UP in that fight, not down.
How come no one at Middle just says, "You want some. Come get it." There isn't a single fight amongst the title holders with any serious public demand. This is one of boxing's great divisions. Freaking joke.

This...but at least there was noise about Pirog-Geale. Solid champ with no following; bunch of regional next bests...if anyone wants to see where all these belts can just be crushing, here it is.

Excellent observation.IMO-Pirog is possibly #2 based on his skill. The problem is,he hasn't PROVED his skill over anything other than over-matched club fighters.Hell,in reality he is probably alongside all of those fighters you just mentioned-some of which who have proved themselves more worthy than Pirog!
