Comments Thread For: Team Pirog Respond To Lara, Jabs DiBella, Talk Geale

After reading several of the pieces involving the verbal battle between Lou DiBella, promoter of top middleweight star Sergio Martinez, and Russia’s Kirill Pchelnikov, the co-promoter and financial supporter of WBO middleweight beltholder Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15 KOs), BoxingScene.com reached out to another member of Team Pirog to get his opinion on several topics.

So if there's no demand for Lara, that's okay and we won't offer him the money. If there's no demand for Pirog, it's not okay.

So that is what a rational promoter sounds like.

So you expect Pirog to offer 3 million dollars to a 154lb contender when even HBO will only pay the MW Champion 1.2 Million? Martinez's fans are as ****** as is promoter.

So lets hope Pirog doesnt duck. I mean they looking for money and HBO slots. Dibella said HBO wouldnt go for it and many said that was a flat out lie and that Martinez is ducking. Now if HBO says no again to this fight are we going to say that Pirog is ducking?

Lara never said or implied he would take the fight for $3 million. Way to to tackle a strawman. He only said he would go to Russia for a chance at the belt.

The guy is right. I hope HBO picks up Lara-Pirog, since it's quite obvious Martinez will never fight him.

Wait wait wait, so the Pirog team wants Martinez to go to Russia and fight Pirog WITHOUT American television coverage and since he doesnt want to, he's "afraid", but the Pirog team wants NOTHING to do with Lara unless there's American coverage or no fight?

                Is you serious?

The dude aint totally ruling a fight out with Lara like Martinez is doing with him it sounds to me like even though there is some skepticism with the answer. Martinez and Dibella are just totally ducking Pirog.

I'm not a Martinez fan. Where is this money coming from? Pirog's first defense looked like it took place in a high school gym. I'm all for Martinez-Pirog, but I think this "he's ducking me" talk is ridiculous.

If he can offer six million, why not put up the money? In fact Lara-Pirog is a great fight to determine who should get a shot at Pirog. How is Pirog's team putting up the money? Why didn't they due this in the past with other bigger names if they had this money?

Personally, I think the offers are full of **** and it would be ****** to travel to Russia without US TV
