I hate your whole tone. We can be critical of fighters without it reflecting on us. Yes, they all do deserve credit for stepping in the ring but we can be critical of them. So, stop that "too much time on your hand" garbage and talk about the issue.

I don't agree with the original post on this thread but use some facts to argue your point.

To me, this whole thread is a misleading and unjust attack of Vargas, written by a person with to much time on their hands and not enough boxing knowledge to know any better.

    In my humble opinion,

Good job Rodg, put this idiot in his place. Well, he's definitely not an idiot, but he acts as if because he was a proffessional he is more knowledgable and better then anyone. The man was crying that I said I was the best athlete on this board.

It is one thing to have super star written all over you and then **** all over yourself like Francisco Bojado or Ricardo Williams and a completely different thing to have it writen all over you then produce.

Oscar was a ****ing beast between 130-147.
Never said he wasnt great and he did live up to the hype but had he not had the talent with all the hype around him he would have fallen in that category.
You are correct about it but first impression to me was creation and redeemed himself till he got to 160. If we look at a the big picture and how he wanted to be like a Duran or a Hearns (belts wise)he didnt live up to the full potential.

I just think Oscar had to big of expectations for hismelf...the little **** after winning his first fight on Tuesday night fights starts blabbing about how he is going to win 6 titles in 6 weights...(didnt he do it?)

Hearns is a lot like Oscar...some of the biggest fights both of them were in they seemed to come up a bit short.

10th fight fights and defeats Dan Connelly (19-3) obviously being protected by manager.

next fight defeats Romallis Ellis (24-3), who was a good pro and an elite amatuer. Obviously another soft touch for a kid with only 11 fights under his belt

Then takes another really soft touch in Anthony Stephens (29-9)

Then he defeats Luis Campas (72-2) for the IBF tilte in only his 15th pro fight.

Defends title against Marquez, Wright, Quartey and Ross Thompson.

            Loses against Trinidad and Delahoya.

I see your logic now, if you lose to Trinidad and Delahoya 2 of the top pfp fighters in the world, then you must be a creation. A boxing wannabe with no real talent or ability?

Ive watched the guy fight many times and still have no fricken idea of how he is a creation of hbo. Vargas was created many years earlier in the amatuers with solid training and hard work.

Primo Carnerra was a creation, Fernando Vargas is a solid fighter.

if you dont like my tone, then look at Vargas and tell me that he is not a REAL fighter. That he was a creation of good promotion.

My tone is perfectly in tune.

A shot to the liver made him come up short of 6 in 6.
