He beat up Willie Pep as a bantam in the amateurs, and the local fuzz arrested him because they thought he was far too GOOD to be an amateur, and thought he was a moonlighting pro. Perhaps I was being a little conservative when I said light to light-heavy. SRR EVIDENTLY rules 118-175
you know how i know you're an idiot?
you believe a 5'11 man had too force feed himself to make 135
Shut up you fat internet troll. I didnt say he had to force feed himself. He just didnt have to starve himself. And for a 17 year old it can happen. Don't talk about what you don't understand.

Why only starting at welterweight? Considering he started his career weighing in under the lightweight limit I don't think he'd have that much trouble easily coming in and winning a 130 pound title. None whatsoever. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was able to make 126 briefly....long enough to win a title these days anyway, which with his skill would have been about 15-20 fights.
Consider that he was fighting at the weight he weighed in at. Putting on ten pounds in absolutely normal for most boxers today. So, a fighter that weighs in at 126 will fight at 135 and more easily. If he was weighing in under the 135 limit at fight time, he could have easily made 126 in my opinion at the start of his career with well over 24 hours to regroup up to his fight weight.
Either way, he would have made 130 easily. Absolutely no doubt even a little bit. He was already close to weighing 130 at the start of his career and fought at lightweight for many times. With the nutrition available today, the amount of time to regain lost fluids etc after weigh in it would have been simple.
At the least it would have been from 130 to 168. In my opinion he could have done 126 to 175 with all the minor titles available, though obviously it gets a bit harder from 147 up as the weight difference suddenly jumps to much larger intervals. Winning titles from 112 to 126 is already five division titles today!!!!! It's only a 14 pound difference. The jump from welter to middle is 13 pounds and only two divisions. Five compared to two and only one pound difference.
Either way, with his skill, speed, power, chin and size he could have beaten some David Diaz's, Paulie Malignagi's, Danny Jacobs', Arturo Gatti's (RIP), etc at the lower and higher weights and maybe even been handed an extra title at CW just for being so good. He doesn't need to fight there. They could just say he would have won anyway. They hand out titles to unranked fighters who've never fought in divisions today, so I have no doubt that they'd go one step further and simply give Robinson a title at CW and HW. Why not?
He would have ended up a 17 division titlist today. Minimumweight to heavyweight. GOAT.
In all seriousness, considering he started at 135 and all but beat the lineal LHW champ whilst weighing in under the middleweight limit, I think he could beat one of the minor, hack titlists (of which there is no lack of today) at 168 and 175 while being able to quite easily get down to 130 and even 126 early on to also win some crappy titles against a nobody.
