This is the best news I've read in weeks. I've recently become a fan of Pirog's because of his fan friendly and unique style and think this fight is a great matchup. However, I've heard on numerous occasions Lou DiBella shoot down this fight immediately as if he has a grudge against Dmitry. I hope the $$$ is such that this fight can be made..

How can you say time to put up or shut up when he's been calling out better fighters then Pirog? Pirog is not even the 2nd best middleweight out there. He beat Jacobs a prospect. This fight will go maybe 4 rounds and then fools like you will still not give Martinez credit

Popularity of Pirog is not the question here, But the challenge he brings. Pirog is a much threat to Maravilla, That's why he should or could take the fight to prove those doubters. And also silence Arum. If Martinez fights Pirog and beats him in Passion. Then he can whine and call on Arum's top dog's for a fight!

How is Pirog any different then Barker? He has less fights. He's fought lesser fighters. Pirog's biggest win was against Jacobs. The only thing they have going is the promoter is relentless for an easy payday.
Martinez is calling out better fighters then Pirog and gets no respect. All the ass kicking Martinez has done and gets called everything in the book because he might not face Pirog. He could fight Chavez & Canelo and make a ton more. He can fight Mayweather and make way way more. It's not the money it's what he can add to his resume. What will Pirog do for Martinez at this point? Pirog can fight Vanes, Angulo, Sturm. That's a good starting point
