I guess if you get gift decissiona and fight guys you know you can beat, but there will always be that tough fight or that guy who comes to fight. When you are undefeated and have fought world class competition then you deserve credit for being a beast or ATG. Theres a difference in Joe Calzaghe and Marciano being undefeated and Floyd Mayweather being undefeated IMO.

      Joe was very sheltered
Marciano fought at a very good time when competiton was old
Floyd has been criticized for not fighting Cotto, Margarito, Manny and maybe Paul Williams, but in his defense he fought Hatton, Corrales, Delahoya, Mosley when Manny wouldn't fight him because roach said he was too good and then Ortiz.
Chavez and Alvarez are way over rated and have been very well guided.

Undefeated doesn't garner as nuch respect in my book as a fighter like Oscar whom not only fought everyone from Whitaker, Hopkins, Mosley, Trinidad, Pacquaio, Chavez and numerous others but was also well rewarded with riches. Because Oscar lost some of those bouts do we grade him below Mayweather and Pacquaio of course we do, but its obvious that May and Pac picked and chose who they wanted to fight. Pac ducked Mosley after he demolished Margarito, and he also ducked a whole JWW division that was loaded with talent from Bradley, Khan and you all know the rest of those guys but when delahoya was in those divisions he cleaned them out. He may have received a few gift decisions but he also was robbed a couple of times. No one of recent times besides Hopkins comes close to Oscar's resume. Defeat or no defeat.

        tsk

It's not all about being undefeated. Try winning the WBC in 5 divisions and remain undefeated. Not to mention 9 defenses at 130.

I could'nt agree with you more. Glen Johnson with 15 losses, would take any challenges got my respect.
I'm thinking of Edwin Valero had he not died would be one of those who would take on any challenges. But I think he would lose along the way.....

And there are a lot more out there who have almost similar record. Is this more to managing the boxer skill,Rather than the boxer's skill?.
I don't think so. It's always been like that, particularly if the fighter is based in one country for long periods. Plus, there are plenty of fighters with early and late losses in the game right now and it's always been that way too. Nothing's changed.

                    Who are you reffering to?.

Paul Williams is one of those guys that are too big for his division and dominated everyone. (He reminds me of Cosmo Kramer of Seinfeld fame,When he dominated his division. ).Until he met someone in his natural division and get whipped in such a short time.
