Is being undefeated becoming a bit easy to achieve?

It's easy to achieve if you're only fighting mediocre competition, but the main problem is that being undefeated is seen as a major string to a fighter's bow (wrongly, imo). It gets to the point where it's more desirable to protect the unbeaten record than risk it against better fighters, which can't be good for boxing. In days gone by if you were undefeated it meant you were untested.Comment

It is very easy for boxers with a lot of talent to stay undefeated without ever testing themselves. Those guys still end up being exposed at some point, like Chavez Jr. eventually will, but compared to how it used to be? Far easier.Comment

People on this site are very responsible for the over emphasis on undefeated records. There aren't many fighters with undefeated records that mean something. It's easy to achieve if you're only fighting mediocre competition, but the main problem is that being undefeated is seen as a major string to a fighter's bow (wrongly, imo). If those accomplishment are made by the Managers and promoters to the advantage of the boxer to stay undefeated would that be questionable?.
I mean one can fight some good for nothing champions or mediocre champions along the way and take their title.Comment

I think your right and its actually ruining boxing a bit for the following reasons.
1) The boxer doesnt learn enough to be in a position to be challenging for titles recent examples have highlighted they fall quite short of winning.
2) The boxers confidence is destroyed when they do lose, losing is part becoming a champ.
3) The viewers watch the fighter progress, get hyped up but when they step up they disappoint.
Only Top Top Top class fighters will remain unbeaten, If boxers are more evenly matched throughout their career the learning will be much quicker, yes initally you need a few learning fights against journeyman but that should go beyond 5 or so fights.Comment

So one can say to those who have undefeated record that they have not been tested to the very limit of their ability,That they are hovering around and just fighting opponents that are either mediocre or they can surely beat.Comment
