850-900k (if true) are still solid numbers. This helps the Pac fight imo because I think that one side needs to be pushed into it.
859-900k are solid, but poor if you consider floyd the cash cow of boxing.

dunno if it will help or harm the chances of Pac/Floyd coming off. Don't think floyd will ever give Pac the bigger purse unless he's desperate. That means floyd would rather fight Martinez and Khan or anyone else before he gives Pac the bigger purse. ONly way floyd changes his mind is if floyd's ppv #'s are consistently lower than Pac's

-- Multichannel News reporting Mayweather vs. Ortiz drew in excess of 1 million buys, which speaks to the drawing power of Mayweather, since Victor Ortiz shouldn't have meant much.

Dave Meltzer has way more inside info than Steve Kim does.

ortiz was a hard sell for casual fans, not to mention ortiz was a huge underdog even for real boxing fans.

but morales and canelo on the card was supposed to boost the mexican buys.

        bottomline 850k isn't good

well, Kim was giving the lowest number quoted. $1 million sounds more accurate, but holding out for the actual numbers

Yeah, except Meltzer is just quoting what he read by some guy named Thomas Umstead. Solid source

Multichannel News isn't a solid source now? You're reaching too far.

David Meltzer isn't citing his "inside info".
He's citing Multichannel News' Thomas Umstead, who in turn is citing
                  unnamed "industry source" estimations.

At press time fight distributor HBO would not reveal final PPV buys
for the fight, which featured a PPV boxing record $59.95 suggested retail
price. But industry sources estimate that the fight has generated at least
                  1 million PPV buys
, making it the second boxing event in 2011 to hit the
category’s gold performance standard: Showtime’s May 7 Manny Pacquiao
-Shane Mosley fight drew approximately 1.2 million buys.

If the estimations hold, it will be Mayweather’s third straight 1 million plus
PPV buy event. The fighter drew 1 million buys for his Sept. 2009 fight
against Juan Manuel Marquez, and 1.4 million buys in his May 2010 fight
                  against Mosley.

Umstead has the sense to couch his language carefully, and maybe
we can learn from that. I'm hoping Mayweather-Ortiz goes north of
1M buys, for the sake of the sport, but how about we just wait for
the official numbers, instead of arguing vehemently on the basis of
                  essentially-uncited (anonymous) estimates/projections?

i TOLD YOU NO ONE WOULD PAY TO SEE A MONKEY IN THE RING...THE ZOO? YES. I ONLY PAY TO SEE MONKEY'S IN THE ZOO.

Monkey Mayweather tried to piggy back off ALL THE MEXICAN FIGHT FANS buying the PPVs but we know not to believe monkeys who talk. I always bootleg Monkey Mayweather fights. I only buy PPVs that are worth it and who have fighters who actually FIGHT!

GO BACK TO THE ZOO MONKEY MAYWEATHER..
