It was the biggest fight of the PPV era, hands down.
oscar the part time fighter who hadn't beaten anyone good in years? he wasn't one of boxings best. he wasn't even one of junior middleweights best. that was a fake mega-fight. calzaghe-hopkins was a much bigger fight between 2 of boxing best. and calzaghe is a bum!

i get what hes saying though. Dela hoya vs floyd didn't have that aura or electric feel to it. That feeling like "wow, this is something important going on right here".

Oddly, Tyson vs Lewis had that for me.. Probably fooled myself into thinking Tyson had a chance.

As I've mentioned before, i think Trinidad vs hopkins felt the biggest to me during the 00s. It obviously wasn't the biggest in terms of money though.

I really think people don't understand the question. I would say Tyson vs, Lewis and floyd vs. oscar had that type of hype and were thought of as mega fights. I remember the media went crazy for both, but I agree with what the ts said about floyd vs oscar, that by that time oscar had really lost the aura he had back in the late 90's.

You are right on the money explaining the electricity of the fight. Kinda like everybody and their mother will be watching and you know the winner will explode as a household name and favorite type thing. IMO Trinidad achieved that after the DLH fight and it hasn't been replicated...I can see the Tyson/Lewis fight being a megafight but Tyson lost his magic after he went to jail...Floyd has too much negativity surrounding him to qualify for the type of fight that I'm referring to...If you think about it the DLH/Trinidad fight was as if two massive Planets were colliding. People just wanted to see what would happen. No negativity between the camps just everybody anticipating the fight so much...I don't think that same magic has been replicated since then.

Oscar-Floyd was a super-mega fight in commercial terms but it was not Oscar-Tito type of megafight involving p4p top ranked fighters, IMHO only fight that could match Tito-delhaoya level and at the same time also match Oscar-Floyd level is PAC-Floyd...
